Paxton Encourages Texans to Participate in “Go Purple Day” for Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October 15, 2025 – Attorney General Ken Paxton encourages all Texans to wear purple on Thursday, October 16, as a statewide initiative to raise awareness for domestic violence.

For the eleventh consecutive year, Attorney General Ken Paxton and employees of the Office of the Attorney General will take part in “Go Purple Day”, and wear purple as a visible symbol of solidarity with survivors, to honor those who have been affected by domestic violence, and to show commitment to creating safer communities across Texas.

Timpson Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Drug, Gun Violations

August 7, 2024 - A Timpson man has been sentenced to federal prison for drug trafficking and firearms violations in the Eastern District of Texas, announced U.S. Attorney Damien M. Diggs.

Austin Yarbrough, 31, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and being a felon in possession of a firearm and was sentenced to 188 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone on August 7, 2024. 

Paxton Issues Consumer Alert Warning Texans of Potential Scams Following Nationwide CrowdStrike Outage

July 20, 2024 – Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton warned Texans of potential scams following the widespread CrowdStrike service outage.

Texans should be aware that bad actors can use cybersecurity incidents to take advantage of consumers. By following certain steps, the public can significantly decrease their likelihood of falling prey to a scam that could compromise personal data privacy and devices.

Educational Partnership Between OAG Cold Case, Missing Persons Unit, TSU School of Criminal Justice and Criminology

April 3, 2024 – Attorney General Ken Paxton has announced a partnership between the Office of the Attorney General (“OAG”) and Texas State University (“TXST”) to facilitate educational opportunities and bring more investigative power to solving cold cases. The TXST program, termed the Cold Case Team, is a one-year internship program enabling students in the Texas State University School of Criminal Justice and Criminology to work with the OAG Cold Case and Missing Persons Unit (CCMPU).

Attorney General Paxton Recognizes October As Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October 17, 2023 – For the ninth consecutive year, Office of the Attorney General (“OAG”) employees will participate in the Domestic Violence Awareness Month (“DVAM”) “Go Purple Day.” On Thursday, October 19th, OAG employees are encouraged to wear purple in support of survivors and raise awareness of and take a stand against domestic violence.
