October 17, 2017 - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and John Burns – Farmers Insurance Agency will host the 4th annual HALLOWEEN IN THE HOLE, Monday, October 30 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Center High School baseball field.
All Shelby County businesses and organizations are invited to participate. Participants are required to provide their own table (folding table or smaller), candy or treats, table decorations, etc. Participants need a sign on the front of their table with their name.
October 16, 2017 - Shelby County Sheriff Willis Blackwell reports that on Saturday, October 14, 2017 the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Communications Division received a call in reference to a deceased individual located at a residence on County Road 1470 in Center. The victim was identified as an Austin Underbrink, 23, of Center. The victim appeared to have succumbed to injuries sustained from a gunshot. Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Melissa Crouch performed the inquest and an autopsy was ordered.
September 19, 2017 - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office was informed of a post circulating on social media regarding a dog bite that occurred recently.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident at the NMC Center Emergency Department on Sunday, Sept. 17 regarding a dog bite that occurred on County Road 2501.
September 14, 2017 - Shelby County Sheriff Willis Blackwell reports that on Friday, September 8, 2017 that an arrest was made on a James Alford Tutt, Jr., 25 of Timpson, due to a narcotics investigation conducted by Chief Deputy DJ Dickerson.
September 5, 2017 - The Shelby County Sheriff's Office is still accepting donations for victims of Hurricane Harvey. Donations will be accepted until 4 p.m. Friday, September 8.
The donations will be carried to the Vidor area Saturday, September 9. Items needed included cleaning supplies - bleach, clorox wipes, garbage bags, paper towels, brooms, fans, non-perishable food items, feminine products, diapers, baby wipes, juice boxes, body wash, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.
August 28, 2017 - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office will serve as a drop site for donations to those affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Items needed are cases of water, non-perishable food items, personal care items, clothing for small children to adults – this includes undergarments and socks, tarps, items to make small repairs, dog and cat food, animal crates and garbage bags.
August 27, 2017 - Shelby County Sheriff Willis Blackwell reports that on Sunday, August 27, 2017 Shelby County Sheriff's Communications Division received a call at approximately 6:42am of a body floating in the Sabine River. The call was transferred from DeSoto Parish and they had lost contact with the caller. SCSO Communications was able to regain contact with the caller. Responding from SCSO was Sheriff Willis Blackwell, Deputy Adam Renfro and Investigator Del Birdwell along with Constable Pct. 3 Roy Cheatwood. TPWD Game Warden Austin Cryer also responded.
