Sheriff's Department, FBI Investigate Origin of Child Abuse Video

May 1, 2018 - The Shelby County Sheriff's Office was contacted this afternoon in regards to a video circulating on Facebook. The video shows a very young child being beaten and abused by a lady in a home that was reported to be in Tenaha.

The video has been investigated by the FBI who determined the video originated in Britain. We pray for the safety and protection of this child.

SCSO Seeking Public Assistance with Case

March 26, 2018 - In the early morning hours of March 10, 2018, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) received a call of a burglary and stolen vehicle.

Officers met with the complainant who advised he had arrived at his residence to find it had been burglarized and his vehicle taken. The suspect(s) rummaged through the residence and forced open a Brinks safe and took $2,000 in cash and two Austin State Bank checkbooks. After burglarizing the residence, the suspect(s) left in a 2017 Dodge Ram 1500 belonging to the complainant.

Sheriff Releases Statement Regarding Tragic Death of Risinger

March 15, 2018 - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office expresses our thoughts and prayers for all those involved in the tragic March 6, 2018 death of Louis Troy Risinger. Peace officers hope to avoid the use of deadly force throughout their careers, but when the circumstances result in its use, the outcome is devastating. The Sheriff’s Office can confirm Sergeant Jeffrey Gogolewski, a veteran officer, was involved in the shooting. We continue to work with the Texas Rangers to ensure to a thorough and complete investigation is conducted.
