January 31, 2020 - Responding to the increasing number of people wanting to assist law enforcement officials and build a stronger partnership in the fight against crime, Sheriff Willis B. Blackwell today announced that Shelby County citizens are being invited to become Associate Members of the Sheriffs' Association of Texas.
January 15, 2020 - On January 14, 2020, at approximately 10 a.m., the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call concerning a missing man in the area of County Road 3685 in Joaquin. The caller indicated that Elzie Holland, 68, of Joaquin, had left on foot to retrieve items from a residence located next door at approximately 7:45 p.m. on January 13. Holland never made it to the residence nor did he return home. The caller stated that Holland was using a walker at the time of his disappearance and did not get around well unassisted.
November 18, 2019 - On November 17, 2019, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office responded to a structure fire on County Road 4084 off FM 415. The first deputy on scene arrived to find a house that was burned completely down. The callers advised they were told that the house next to their land had burned sometime during the night. The house, which is used as a camp house, is in a remote location on this county road.
November 11, 2019 - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding an individual lying on the side of the roadway on County Road 2020 on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at approximately 11pm. Officers responded to the location and found a deceased male subject. Investigators with the SCSO responded and along with deputies, processed the crime scene.
September 13, 2019 - Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) deputies responded to a residence located in the Campti community in Shelby County on August 17, 2019, at 4:30am, in reference to an aggravated robbery. Deputies learned that the homeowner was asleep and was awakened by the intruder. The homeowner stated the intruder was demanding money. The intruder forced the homeowner to the floor and forced her to empty her wallet.
August 20, 2019 - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in solving the 2012 murder of Ashton Randle.
On or about May 20th, 2012, the body of 23-year-old Ashton Randle of Logansport, Louisiana was located in a wooded area off of FM 139 in Shelbyville, Texas. It was discovered that Mr. Randle had been fatally shot.
