Sheriff's Department Warns of Scam Targeting Lion's Club Benefactors

June 14, 2021 - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office has received a report of a new scam that is circulating in our area.

The caller is stating he is with the Lions Club International Grant Fund. The caller will tell you that you have won a large sum of money but in order to obtain it, you will be required to pay a fee upfront for the transfer to take place. In order to complete the transfer, you are required to send money through prepaid debit cards, Google Play cards, etc.

This is a scam. Do not play into this. You will lose your money!

Sheriff's Association Memberships Being Accepted

April 8, 2021 - Memberships into the Sheriff’s Association of Texas (SAT) are being mailed out through their headquarters in Austin. The SAT is one of the oldest law enforcement associations in the nation. The Sheriffs’ Association of Texas met for the first time on August 14, 1874, in the courthouse in Corsicana, Navarro County, Texas. The meeting was called to order by Sul Ross, Sheriff of McLennan County, who later became a notable part of Texas history.

Sheriff's Department Reports Search Warrant Leads to Arrest; Narcotics Located

February 25, 2021 - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence on East Saddle Street in Joaquin on February 23, 2021. Per Shelby County Sheriff Kevin W. Windham, the search warrant was a result of several reports of drug activity in the area.

During the search, officers located 19 grams of methamphetamines and a small amount of marijuana. Items were also recovered from the scene that are used for the packaging and reselling of illegal narcotics.
