Sheriff's Association Memberships Being Accepted

April 8, 2021 - Memberships into the Sheriff’s Association of Texas (SAT) are being mailed out through their headquarters in Austin. The SAT is one of the oldest law enforcement associations in the nation. The Sheriffs’ Association of Texas met for the first time on August 14, 1874, in the courthouse in Corsicana, Navarro County, Texas. The meeting was called to order by Sul Ross, Sheriff of McLennan County, who later became a notable part of Texas history.

Sheriff's Department Reports Search Warrant Leads to Arrest; Narcotics Located

February 25, 2021 - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence on East Saddle Street in Joaquin on February 23, 2021. Per Shelby County Sheriff Kevin W. Windham, the search warrant was a result of several reports of drug activity in the area.

During the search, officers located 19 grams of methamphetamines and a small amount of marijuana. Items were also recovered from the scene that are used for the packaging and reselling of illegal narcotics.

Sheriff's Department Investigates Shooting Incident; Two Injured

February 17, 2021 - Deputies with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting in the 100 block of County Road 1446 in Tenaha on February 12, 2021 at 3:31am.

Per Shelby County Sheriff Kevin W. Windham, when deputies arrived on scene, a female was found with a gunshot wound to the left thigh area and a male sustained a wound in the abdomen.

Both individuals were transported to Nacogdoches Medical Center by Allegiance EMS.

This case is under investigation; no further information will be released at this time.
