April 8, 2021 - Memberships into the Sheriff’s Association of Texas (SAT) are being mailed out through their headquarters in Austin. The SAT is one of the oldest law enforcement associations in the nation. The Sheriffs’ Association of Texas met for the first time on August 14, 1874, in the courthouse in Corsicana, Navarro County, Texas. The meeting was called to order by Sul Ross, Sheriff of McLennan County, who later became a notable part of Texas history.
March 8, 2021 - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on Richard Lee Sanders, a white male who vanished from the Center, Texas area in November, 2001. Mr. Sanders was 25 years of age at the time of his disappearance. Mr. Sanders was last seen with Tara Blue the night before her murder in Shelby County, Texas.
February 25, 2021 - The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence on East Saddle Street in Joaquin on February 23, 2021. Per Shelby County Sheriff Kevin W. Windham, the search warrant was a result of several reports of drug activity in the area.
During the search, officers located 19 grams of methamphetamines and a small amount of marijuana. Items were also recovered from the scene that are used for the packaging and reselling of illegal narcotics.
February 19, 2021 - This week, our county was faced with winter weather that was impossible to prepare for. While everyone took proper precautions, there was no way any of us could have prepared for what we faced.
