Center Band To Perform At Walt Disney World

March 4, 2015 - The Pride of Shelby County, Center High School Marching Band will be leaving for their trip to Florida from Sunday, March 8th through Friday, March 13th. The band submitted audition photos and video which earned them the opportunity to perform in Disney’s famous nighttime electrical parade, “Wishes Nighttime Spectacular.” The performance will be on Monday night in the Magic Kingdom.

Center HS Varsity Tennis Busy Getting Ready For District

March 4, 2015 - The Center High School Varsity Tennis team has been extremely busy getting ready for District in a few weeks. Two weeks ago, they participated in Kilgore and finished 4th overall out of 16 teams.

Coach Dykes explains, "The teams were comprised of mostly 4A and 5A schools.” Participants in each bracket earned points for their team toward the overall standings.

Center HS JV Tennis Perform Well At Jacksonville

March 4, 2015 - The Center High School JV Tennis Team traveled to Jacksonville on Tuesday, March 3rd. With crazy weather conditions and roll drying courts for three hours, the Riders finally began matches and faired very well.

Other teams in the tournament include Henderson, Nacogdoches, Lufkin, Palestine, Jacksonville, John Tyler, Whitehouse, and Van.

Coach Dykes says, “The JV kids had an outstanding showing and represented Center very well.”

Center HS Girls Basketball Receive All-District Selections

March 3, 2015 - The 2014-15 District 19-4A All-District selections for girls basketball have been released. Center High School Lady Riders received multiple nominations and team selections as follows:

1st Team - Cheyenne Woodard (Sr)

2nd Team - Taylor Nichols (Fr), Tynequa McGee (Jr)

Honorable Mention - Katesia Evans (Sr), Riley Mitchell (Sr), LaJada Hicks (Fr), Kamisha Evans (Jr)

Academic All-District - Katesia Evans (Sr), LaJada Hicks (Fr), Makayla Hubbard (So), Tynequa McGee (Jr), Riley Mitchell (Sr), Taylor Nichols (Fr), Cheyenne Woodard (Sr)

Center HS Boys Basketball Win Bi-District Championship

February 26, 2015 - The Center Roughrider Varsity Boys Basketball team claimed the Bi-District Championship on Tuesday, February 24th against the Jasper Bulldogs.

Led by Sophomore, Octavious Evans who scored 25 points for the night, the Riders confidently marched to victory. With a tied score at the end of the first period, the Riders quickly made adjustments and went into halftime with a defining lead over the Bulldogs, 44-25.
