Andrew King to Speak at TAGHS Meeting

July 16, 2024 - Andrew King of King's nursery will speak about his family business's story on Wednesday, July 17 at 2pm in the Timpson Public Library annex for the July meeting of Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society. He is a horticulturist and the 4th generation of his family to manage the Tenaha nursery, which has been in continuous operation since 1915. He plans to bring a member of the 5th generation with him.

Mr. King may be better know to many as a member of the Calvary Boys.

Corry to Highlight Timpson Football History at TAGHS May Meeting

May 14, 2024 - Ralph Corry will share highlights of Timpson's football history with members and guests at the May meeting of Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society. Timpson's first state title and the records set by the Bears in 2023 have ignited interest in past Timpson football successes.

Ralph, a 1966 graduate of Timpson High School and the creator of Timpson66.com, simply describes himself as just a hometown boy who enjoys researching the history of Timpson and its school.

Holocaust Survivor to Speak at TAGHS Meeting

March 16, 2024 - Hans Polk, a Holocaust survivor will share his story with Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society and guests Wednesday, March 20, at 2PM. Mr. Polk's parents were taken by Nazi soldiers from their home when he was 6 years old. They were executed at Auschwitz. Mr. Polk resides in Timpson and his wife is from a local family.

This is a unique opportunity to hear a first hand account of the horrors of the holocaust, especially since there are efforts to deny it happened.

TAGHS Program to Feature Scott Sosbee Speaking on Outlaw Country Music

February 19, 2024 - Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society will host Scott Sosbee as our speaker, Wednesday, February 21st, at 2:00 PM in the Timpson Public Library Annex. Returning for the third time to address our society, Mr Sosebee will speak on "Outlaw Country Music: How a Texas Sound Changed the World".

Mr. Sosebee, a professor of history at Stephen F. Austin State University, is also Executive Director of East Texas Historical Association and editor of East Texas Historical Journal. He also has published works.
