Constable Tipton to Speak at TAGHS Meeting

November 16, 2021 - Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society will host Josh Tipton as speaker at the group's meeting Wednesday, November 17, at 2pm. He will address the group about protecting oneself from crime, especially as the holidays approach. Mr. Tipton has plans to implement a program for senior safety and child safety, especially children with special needs. This is information that can benefit us all.

TAGHS Welcomes Author of "A Hanging in Shelby County"

October 18, 2021 - Our own Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society member, Charles Johnson, will address our group Wednesday, Octobet 20, at 2pm in the annex back of Timpson Public Library.

The author of "A Hanging in Shelby County" a book with a historic viewpoint that is set in the Huber/New Prospect area, Mr. Johnson will share information about the book as well as assorted, interesting trivia about his family and our county.

Timpson Area Heritage Society Meeting Guest Speaker: Fannie Watson

July 19, 2021 - Fannie Watson, longtime Shelby County educator, will speak to Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society and guests about the historic Shelby County Courthouse at the society's July meeting. She will share information about.the preservation of this landmark located on the Center square. Mrs. Watson will also tell about the project one of her classes did concerning the courthouse. She will bring a copy of a book that has been printed about this Irish building.

TAGHS Program is Deciphering Handwriting in Old Genealogy Records

May 18, 2021 - Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society (TAGHS) will resume its monthly meetings Wednesday, May 19, at 2pm. Addressing the group will be Marynell Bryant, retired journalism teacher at Sulphur Springs Texas, and experienced researcher and presenter of genealogy. A past, three term president of Texas State Genealogy Association and member of numerous lineage societies, Ms. Bryant will speak about deciphering handwriting in old Genealogy records. Most genealogists have found this a challenge.

TAGHS to Host Speaker on Researching Family History Via Courthouse Records

July 10, 2020 - On Wednesday, July 15 at 2pm Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society will host Judi Wells as our speaker. Ms. Wells will share information on using courthouse records, such as oil and mineral lease documents, to research your family history.

Ms. Wells, the daughter of our own TAGHS member, Jean Wells, earned her registered nurse credentials from Angelina College at an early age. She used these qualifications several years in a number of roles in a Nacogdoches hospital.
