TAGHS Hosting Genealogy Event

October 18, 2022 - Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society, in conjunction with Texas State Genealogy Society and Waco Genealogy Library, will host a statewide genealogy event, "Shedding Light On Your Family Tree," Friday, October 21 from 9am until 6pm.

Interested members of the public who wish to participate may do so from their personal device, or  they may attend in person at the Timpson Public Library annex.

TAGHS Hosts Program on Physical Therapy

October 17, 2022 - Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society invites the public to join its members Wednesday, October 19, at 2PM for a program quite a bit different from our normal meetings. Morgan Kenney, who holds a doctorate in physical therapy, will share exercises and techniques to help people remain mobile and energized as they age. There is no charge for this program!

Timpson Area Genealogy, Heritage Society Welcomes Program on Family Research

September 19, 2022 - Delora Silvers Simms, born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, moved to East Texas in 1983. About seven years ago, a friend encouraged her to research her family, and she was hooked on genealogy. She volunteers at Lufkin Family History and Life Center, located in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Delora has extensive knowledge of Family Search, a research database which is maintained by the Latter Day Saints. Unlike Ancestry, Family Search is a free site.

TAGHS to Hear Program on Victorian Age's Poisonous, Deadly Beauty Habits

August 15, 2022 - Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society will welcome our own Brandy Harding as she shares the poisonous and deadly beauty habits from the Victorian age. Even if you are not a history buff, you will find Brandy's perspective on history fascinating. You may attend her presentation Wednesday, August 17, at 2 PM in the Timpson Public Library annex.

Timpson's New Columbia MBC Hosting Three Day Revival

July 29, 2022 - New Columbia Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2018 FM 1970 S in Timpson, will be in revival Sunday, July 31 through Tuesday, August 2, at 7pm. Calvin Gould is the pastor.

Wesley Veazy, pastor of Memory Lane Baptist Church in Palestine, will speak at these meetings. Bro. Veazy formerly pastored at Hopewell MBC near Gary, and is well known in this area.

The church welcomes everyone to come enjoy Christian fellowship with its members as Bro. Veazy shares God's Word.

TAGHS July Meeting to Feature Smith

July 19, 2022 - The Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society meeting for Wednesday, July 20, at 2pm, will feature Paul Smith.

Smith has graciously agreed to stand in for Robin Connell as speaker. He will share the story of the business he built, along with his family, in our town, and ultimately, how it became a national and international presence. He has recently sold Smith Sawmill and he will tell us how this may impact our area.

Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society Meeting

May 16, 2022 - Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society is pleased to welcome Ronnie Wolfe as our speaker Wednesday, May 18, at 2 PM, in the Timpson Public Library annex. Mr. Wolfe will share his knowledge of gardening accumulated over 70 years.

Mr. Wolfe, a retired math teacher, possesses many basic life skills. At a time our country is predicting food shortages and paying record prices for everything, Mr. Wolfe's perspective will be valuable to us all.

If you have any seeds, cuttings, or roots to share, please bring them.

Thompson to Speak at TAGHS March Meeting

March 14, 2022 - Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society will welcome Shelby County extension agent, Felecia Thompson as speaker Wednesday, March 16, at 2pm.

Ms. Thompson will speak on the history of quilting and will display blocks of different quilt patterns. Members, as well as the public, are invited to bring quilts and patterns they may have made or inherited.

Meeting is held in annex of Timpson Public Library.
