May 13, 2019 - Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society is excited to announce Bill O'neal as our speaker Wednesday, May 15 at 2pm in the community room of the Timpson Public Library located on Austin Street.
Mr. O'Neal is the author of 42 books and over 300 articles on a wide range of subject matter ranging from the Wild West to baseball. Several of us in the area were privileged to have Mr. O'Neal as our history teacher. He has the gift of making his subject matter come alive for his audience.
April 17, 2019 - Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society invites the public to join our members tomorrow, Wednesday, April 17, in the community room of the Timpson Public Library as we learn from Roger Doyle about preparation of the Civil War dead for burial.
Our previously scheduled speakers were Rachel Galan and Tony Souther, site managers at Caddo Mounds. Both these individuals were profoundly affected by the tornado Saturday.
We are very grateful to Mr. Doyle for stepping in to speak to us.
November 13, 2018 - Dickie Dixon will address Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society and their guests Wednesday, November 14, at 2pm.
Mr. Dixon will speak on "The Genealogy of Jesus Christ." To attend, please access the community meeting room at the rear of Timpson Public Library at its outside entrance.
October 16, 2018 - Nelta Nolan, of Vernon Parish Geneaology Society, will address Timpson Area Geneaology and Heritage Society Wednesday, October 17, at 2:00 PM at the regular monthly meeting. She wjll speak on "Alernative Sources for the 1890 Census." Ninety-nine percent of the federal census for this time frame was destroyed by fire and flood. Of the almost 63 million records, only a little over 6000 were salvageable. Ms. Nolan will offer alternatives to this roadblock where many people tracing their roots find their effors derailed.
September 18, 2018 - Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society (TAGHS) will meet Wednesday, Sepember 19 at 2:00 PM in the community room at the rear of the Timpson Public Library. The public is invited to hear Stanley Fletcher discuss "Ferry Tells," an account of ferries operating on East Texas waterways.
