April 11, 2016 - LUFKIN – Each year in Texas, there are approximately 20,000 crashes and more than 100 people killed in highway construction and maintenance zones.

This week, April 11-15, marks the annual observance of 2016 Work Zone Awareness Week, a collaboration between the Texas Department of Transportation, The Federal Highway Administration and other transportation partners. The week-long event is an awareness campaign aimed at making the traveling public more aware of work zone dangers.

Old circle ramp to be permanently closed

April 2, 2016 LUFKIN - Construction near US 59/SL 224 in Nacogdoches County will reach another milestone in the coming week as a new exit ramp is scheduled to be opened and another permanently closed.

March 28, 2016 - LUFKIN – A construction project in San Augustine is scheduled to begin this week that will improve safety and maneuverability along US 96.

Representatives from Moore Brothers, contractor for the project, and other sub-contractors met with TxDOT officials in a pre-construction meeting that signaled the beginning of the $7.3 million project. The meeting was held at the Lufkin District’s Nacogdoches Area Office.

March 16, 2016 - AUSTIN – Eastbound lanes of I-10 were closed early Wednesday at the Texas-Louisiana state line as rising floodwaters from excessive rainfall covered the interstate. Louisiana officials had halted westbound traffic earlier on Tuesday when water from the swollen Sabine River went across those lanes on the Texas side. March 10, 2016 - The outside east and westbound lanes of SH 7, about 5 miles west of Center will be narrowed to one lane after flooding caused the roadway to separate. Utility workers are in the area after a gas line ruptured when the pavement separated.
