Nacogdoches County Street Closed

February 25, 2016 - LUFKIN – The $14 million construction project on US 59/SL 224 in Nacogdoches County has called for the closing of West Spradley Street for several weeks.

Webber LLC, contractors for the project, closed the roadway Thursday morning to through traffic in order to reconstruct approximately 100-feet of Spradley Street with concrete pavement. Detour signs are in place for local traffic to access the roadway by traveling Old Lufkin Road.

Projects Slated to Begin in Nacogdoches County

February 23, 2016 - LUFKIN – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) held a pre-construction meeting Monday afternoon that signaled the beginning of two construction projects in Nacogdoches County.

Pinto Construction, contractor for both projects, is scheduled to set project barricades this week. A $1 million project will rehabilitate and widen FM 95. The roadway will be widened from 22 to 24 feet from Red Springs Road to the county line for a distance of 1.7 miles.

Speed Limit Changing on SH 7

February 22, 2016 - LUFKIN – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is preparing to post new lower speed limit signs this week on a portion of SH 7 in Angelina County. The change becomes effective once signs are posted.

The speed limit will be reduced from 75 miles per hour to 70 miles per hour on SH 7 from SH 103 West to the Nacogdoches County line. Other areas of SH 7 will remain at the posted limits.

Projects Approved for Lufkin District

February 8, 2016 - LUFKIN – Texas Transportation Commissioners recently approved new construction contracts for the Lufkin District that total almost $10.5 million.

Projects for San Augustine, Polk, Houston, Angelina and Nacogdoches counties were approved at the monthly meeting in Austin and were a part of $297.2 million in newly approved projects across the state.

TxDOT Update on Shelby County Projects, Other Areas in District

February 1, 2016 - Work on SL 287 in Angelina County is progressing this week as permanent striping is placed for permanent lane configuration.

Construction crews are defining the westbound and eastbound lanes of SL 287 near Moffett and work continues on the U-turn bridges at the US 59 overpass. Grading of ditches through the construction area will continue. Concrete island work near BU 59 and Spence Street continues that will allow for an eastbound turn-around. Work is on schedule for the project to complete by mid-March.

Closures and Detours Scheduled on Several Projects

January 25, 2016 LUFKIN – Construction and maintenance work continues this week throughout the nine county Lufkin District with closures and detours scheduled in several areas.

Construction crews in Angelina County are working on the intersection of Spence Street and SL 287 where permanent concrete barriers are being set on SL 287 in the eastbound main lanes near the west end of the project.

Closures Planned at Lufkin Loop and US 59 South

January 8, 2015 - LUFKIN –Road closures are scheduled in Lufkin at US 59 South and SL 287 next Wednesday and Thursday as maintenance crews work near the northbound and southbound direct connectors.

On Wednesday, Jan. 13, the southbound direct connector from SL 287 to US 59/South First Street will be closed as barrier walls are straightened. Both northbound and southbound inside lanes of US 59 will also be closed near Walmart.
