Detours Scheduled on Major Project in Nacogdoches

March 25, 2022 – Traffic will be detoured on Monday night (March 28) and Tuesday night (March 29) on US 59 at SL 224 in Nacogdoches so that concrete can be poured to form overhead bridge decks on the South Interchange construction project.

Traffic control will be in place and will detour traffic from northbound lanes into southbound lanes of US 59 at 8 pm Monday night to pour bridge decks over the northbound lanes. This will form a two-way traffic pattern.

‘Teen Click It or Ticket’ Urges Buckling Up to Save a Life

February 18, 2022 - With vehicle crashes continuing to be the leading cause of death for U.S. teenagers, TxDOT’s “Teen Click It or Ticket” campaign is urging teens across the state to buckle up in every seat for every ride.

The Teen Click It or Ticket campaign is making a stop in the Lufkin District and will be available on the Central ISD campus from 2 pm to 6 pm on February 25. Students will see a large box truck with electronic messaging and will be able to scan a code on the side of the trailer pledging to wear a seatbelt.

Motorists Stay Alert as Deer Season Begins Nov. 6th

November 2, 2021 – Deer season in East Texas is scheduled to begin Saturday, Nov. 6. With the increased activity in wooded areas and along with the cooler weather, the deer population will be on the move. Motorists are urged to stay alert in pre-dawn hours and just after sunset.

Crashes involving a vehicle versus deer are already beginning to occur and TxDOT wants to remind drivers of the dangers involved with deer hits.

Overlay Project Beginning in Shelby County

July 30, 2020 - Crews will begin an overlay project Monday, August 3 in Shelby County on SH 87 and motorists are urged to stay alert for traffic control that will be in place.

The work will begin just south of SL 500 in Center and will continue southbound on SH 87 throughout the week, weather permitting. As work moves along the 1.5 mile work zone, there will be moving equipment and workers throughout the project.

Nacogdoches Direct Connector Construction Update

June 24, 2020 – A progress/partnering meeting was held in Nacogdoches on Tuesday regarding the Nacogdoches Direct Connector construction project. Those attending included TxDOT engineers, Longview Bridge and Road officials, utility companies, sub-contractor representatives and other stakeholders.

The $86.1 million construction project is progressing well as weather permits and engineers listed several things that have been done in recent days and discussed plans for coming weeks. Recently completed work includes:
