May 29, 2018 - As Law Enforcement Appreciation month comes to a close, I would like to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to my deputies and investigators at the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, and to my Chief, Kevin Windham. I currently have nine deputies, four investigators and my Chief to handle upwards of 1,000 cases per month. This is an enormous task for 14 people.
May 28, 2018 - Mrs. Hazel Dixon Daniels expressed memories of her class of 1947 that graduated 71 years ago. These memories are found in Dr. Tatum’s book, ‘Dew Drops on the Pine Needles.”
She remembers three of her teachers: Mody Nobles, who played softball with the pupils. (Can you imagine Mrs. Nobles playing softball). She was a well-remembered teacher by all who took classes from her.
May 23, 2018 - President Helen Collard welcomed members and guests to the May 21 meeting of the Golden Harvest Ministries Club at Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church in Center, Texas.
May 23, 2018 - The PWPS held their monthly meeting Saturday, May 19, 2018 with a large attendance to hear the very informative workshop on "The Sunny 16 Rule" describing how synchronize the proper settings on your camera for taking outdoor photographs, presented by Janet Windham Hughes.
May 21, 2018 - Shelby County Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8904 and the Auxiliary invite the public to their annual Memorial Day Program to be held in the 1885 Historic Courthouse on the square in Center, Monday May 28, 2018.
The program will begin at 11:00 a.m. The 203 names of Shelby County military killed in action/missing in action from the Spanish American War to today’s War on Terrorism will be read. While the names are being read, the public is invited to help decorate the Memorial Wreath.
May 17, 2018 - The RIO Theatre will host a special red carpet premiere night on Friday, May 18th for "GAMECHANGER: The Kenneth Harvey Story" which is a story about an extraordinary man from Logansport, Louisiana!
