June 14, 2017 - Flag Day was recognized and celebrated at the City of Center’s Senior Citizen Center on Wednesday, July 14, 2017 with VFW Post 8904 members and Auxiliary members installing new American and Texas flags.
June 14, 2017 - President Nora Robinson and Fannie Watson, members of the local Delta Gamma chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, presented a grant-in-aid check for $700 to Tracy Bryant.
June 12, 2017 - For the past 19 years Pam Phelps has been a blessing to the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce. Her leadership, passion and love for the Chamber and community will be missed. It would be impossible to know how many lives she has touched. We will be experiencing her impact on the area for many years to come. Pam will be greatly missed but we were honored with her dedication as she taught us so much over the years. Her lessons taught will continue to guide us throughout the years to come.
June 9, 2017 - Our hearts are heavy today with the loss of our friend Pam Phelps. Pam has been a guiding force in so many activities that have helped shape our community. Whether it be in the capacity of Chamber of Commerce director, real estate agent, church member, civic and social organization member or wife, mother and grandmother, Pam put her entire energy into making it the best. She was a true cheerleader for Shelby County with a determination to see positive things happen. Pam’s life is an example of the phrase “Life is too short.
June 9, 2017 - Chloe Noel Gipson, College of Arts and Sciences, of Center, Tx. was named in the recent listing of Baylor University Honor students.
According to the University's press release, more than 3,700 Baylor University students were named to the Dean's Academic Honor Roll for the 2017 spring semester. To be named to the Dean's List, a student must be an undergraduate with a minimum grade-point average of 3.7, while enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours.
June 9, 2017 - The first week of the Library's 2017 Summer Reading Program had a constructive beginning with their "Build a Better World" theme. The Tweens, kids ages 9-13 years, focused on "space" with their Lego projects.
