September 18, 2017 - September 18 is one of two days in September the Daughters of the Republic of Texas specify as Honor Days. This day is known as Texas Heroes Day. On this day the memory or the volunteer soldiers who died defending the Republic of Texas and establishing her independence are remembered. Join with the organization in honoring this group, as well as all the men and women of the military, both past and present.

September 13, 2017 - A group of Zumba instructors will be hosting a Zumbathon to raise funds for Hurricane Relief on Saturday, September 16, 2017. It will be held at the Portocool park behind the library from 9:00-10:30 a.m.
September 12, 2017 - Shelby County Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8904 and the Auxiliary are now taking nominations for teachers of the year in grade K-5, 6-8 and 9-12.
September 12, 2017 - Huxley Helping Hands, a local mission group from the Huxley community, are holding a food pantry for the residents of Shelby County. It will be held the third Saturday of September 2017. Identification and proof of residency will be required. Only (1) box per household will be given.
The food pantry is this Saturday, September 16, 2017 with sign in starting at 9am until food is gone. Hillcrest is located at 901 Southview Circle, Center, Texas.
September 11, 2017 - Hey folks, its that time again. The Dutch Oven Cookers will be cooking at Boles Field on Saturday, September 16. Bring your dutch ovens, best recipes and lets have some fun. Anyone wanting to come cook with us, come on out and let's meet, cook and eat. Our set up time is at 9:00am and pots on the table at 12:00 noon.
