April Proclaimed Confederate History, Heritage Month

March 24, 2016 - Shelby County Judge Allison Harbison signed a proclamation on March 22, 2016 declaring April to be Confederate History and Heritage Month. Members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp 282 were witness to the signing. Below is the proclamation.

March 19, 2016 - Due to excessive flooding in the Beaumont area, The American Red Cross had to reschedule the giveaway of emergency kits to next Saturday at the firehouse at 10:00am. We are sorry for the delay, but in the mean time Community Christian Services will be open Tuesday and Wednesday from 8:30am-12:30pm.

Please come to First Baptist Haslam to fill out paperwork. We will be providing food, clothes, toiletries, bedding, resources, etc. to people in need or those affected by flooding. Please give us a call if you have any questions. (936)269-3006.

Grill Fest 42 Tournament Continues Saturday with Tri-team Final

March 18, 2016 - The first day of 42 tournament play of the Shelby County Grill Fest ended with three teams advancing to the finals which will be at 11am Saturday, March 19th at the Windham Civic Center.

Center Garden Club Wins Top Honors at Texas Garden Clubs Convention

March 18, 2016 - Center Garden Club took top honors at the District III - Texas Garden Clubs Spring Convention by winning 31 awards.

With the theme "Follow the Monarchs through Paris," 67 members represented 25 District III Texas Garden Clubs for the March 16-17 event at the Country Club in Paris, Texas.

SCT Viewer Reports IRS Scam, Fraud and Scam Resources

March 18, 2016 - Following the press release from the Shelby County Sheriff's Department concerning the IRS Scam, Shelby County Today received an email from one it its viewers, Andy Stevens. He reported the next day receiving a call which threatened a lawsuit instead of arrest and wanted to warn others.

Andy Stevens reported, "I got a computer generated call this morning from 360-362-4728 saying they are the IRS and they have begun a lawsuit against me. Unless I call them back they will continue the suit. Please people, be aware that such calls are a SCAM!"
