County Agent Dunn Outlines AgriLife Services for TAGHS May Meeting

May 19, 2016 - Shelby County AgriLife Agent Lane Dunn is a busy man. He has to be to “wear as many hats” as he does: Agriculture, Natural Resources, Horticulture, Community Economic Development, and 4H Youth Development. Any one of these could be a full-time job and he is responsible for all of them.

Library Memorial Day Displays

May 18, 2016 - Cassey Fowler who is the Library Assistant at the Fannie Brown Booth Library here in Center has set up a couple of Memorial Day displays for kids and adults. She is continuously adding items so if you have something to share contact her.

Center Garden Club Has May Meeting; Introduces Scholarship Winner Castaneda

May 18, 2016 - Center Garden Club members met May 11 for a salad luncheon at the home of Alison Scull. The Flower Show results were discussed and final plans were made for the Southern Zone Summer Workshop which the club will host on June 8 at the Community House. Scholarship winner Gabriela Castaneda was introduced. Gabriela, who is a senior at Center High School, was awarded $1000 for her studies at Sam Houston State University.

Hume Briefs Golden Harvest Ministries Club, Vietnam War Fallen

May 17, 2016 - President Joe Anderson called to order the May 16 meeting of the Golden Harvest Ministries Club at 11:30 a.m. with 28 members and guests attending. Harold Hanson led members in several favorites and all sang "Happy Birthday" to sisters Winnie Preston and Jo Warr who celebrated their birthdays on May 15, and Mike Bordelon who will be 73 on May 24. Joe welcomed our guest Glenda Sallis, daughter of Harold and Naomi Hanson, and recognized our guest speaker, Larry Hume.
