September 24, 2024 - The Piney Woods Photographic Society held their regular monthly meeting this past Saturday. This September Challenge was "Documentary Photography" which showed to be a well like category by the number of photos submitted for the challenge. The Favorites were chosen as follows:
September 20, 2024 - Doug Fincher, a contributor to Shelby County Today, crossed over the river Jordan on Saturday, September 14. He has shared stories since August 2011 about his life experiences often reflecting on those who have influenced or made an impression on him over the years.
September 19, 2024 - This week, Senator Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville) met with local superintendents from Shelby County. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss education issues in preparation for the 89th Legislature which convenes in January.
September 4, 2024 - September marks the beginning of fall which is soon followed by hunting season. Texas hunters born on or after September 2, 1971, must complete a Hunter Education course.
Minimum age of certification is 9 years of age.
Those age 9 through 16 must complete Classroom course or Online (+) Field Course.
Those age 17 and above may complete Online-only in lieu of in person course.

September 10, 2024 - The Shelby County 4-H program ushered in a new year of youth development with a vibrant and inspiring kick-off event held at County Extension Office on September 9th. The ceremony celebrated the achievements of the past year, welcomed new officers, and honored outstanding contributions from both individuals and local businesses.
