SWAT Donates Extensive Aircraft Parts Inventory to TSTC

Donation will benefit students training for aviation careers

June 9, 2021 - Southwest Aerospace Technologies (SWAT) recently donated a large inventory of Global Express parts to Texas State Technical College (TSTC). The parts will be used in the school’s aviation curriculum, which offers Aircraft Airframe Technology and Aircraft Powerplant Technology training, as well as Avionics Technology and Aircraft Pilot Training Technology degree paths.

Public Health Alert for Frozen Raw Breaded Stuffed Chicken Products

Possible Salmonella Contamination

June 8, 2021 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is issuing a public health alert due to concerns about illnesses caused by Salmonella Enteritidis that may be associated with frozen, raw, breaded and pre-browned, stuffed chicken products. These items may be labeled "chicken cordon bleu", chicken with “broccoli and cheese”, or "chicken Kiev". This public health alert is being issued to remind consumers about the proper handling and cooking of raw poultry products.

DETCOG Sponsoring a Fair Housing Seminar

June 8, 2021 - Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) will be holding a Fair Housing Seminar on Tuesday, June 15, 2021. The event will be held from 10am to noon, both online and at the DETCOG office at 1405 Kurth Drive in Lufkin.

Speakers for the seminar include Melaney Morris from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Keegan Warren-Clem. Ms. Warren-Clem is an attorney and adjunct professor at the University of Texas School of Law and McCombs School of Business.

June 8, 2021 - Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) will be holding a seminar on Historically Underused Businesses (HUB), government contracting and employment. The presentation will explain what they are, how a business can qualify for the designation, registering with governmental agencies and becoming employed by a HUB. The HUB Seminar is scheduled for Tuesday, June 15, 2021. The event will be held from 1:30pm to 3:30pm, both online and at the DETCOG office at 1405 Kurth Drive in Lufkin
