East Lamar Community Public Water Systems Rescinds Boil Water Notice

April 2, 2025 - On March 31, 2025, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the East Lamar public water system, 2100006, to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

Governor Announces Joint FEMA Preliminary Damage Assessments; Encourages Self Reporting

March 31, 2025 — Governor Greg Abbott announced today that he directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) to request that Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) officials join state and local partners in conducting joint preliminary damage assessments in South Texas communities impacted by recent flooding. These assessments will help determine whether Texas meets the federal thresholds for disaster assistance.

S. C. Appraisal District Reminds Businesses to Render Their Taxable Property by April 15th

March 31, 2025 - If you own tangible personal property that is used to produce income, you must file a rendition with the Shelby County Appraisal District by Tuesday, April 15, 2025.

A rendition is a report that lists all the taxable property you owned or controlled on January 1 of this year. Property includes inventory and equipment used by a business. Owners do not have to render exempt property, such as church property or an agriculture producer’s equipment used for farming.
