TWDB Accepting Agricultural Water Conservation Grant Applications, Webinar

February 17, 2025 – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) is accepting applications through March 19 for Fiscal Year 2025 Agricultural Water Conservation Grants. Up to $1,500,000 in grant funding is available to eligible political subdivisions and state agencies for agricultural water conservation projects that improve irrigation efficiency, enhance resilience to weather extremes and climate variability, and promote innovation in agriculture.

Comptroller’s Office Encourages Homeowners to Take Advantage of Homestead Exemptions

February 13, 2025 - One of the easiest ways a homeowner can lower his or her property tax bill is to file a homestead exemption. A homestead is generally the house and land used as the owner’s principal residence on January 1 of the tax year. A person who acquires property after January 1 may receive the residence homestead exemption for the applicable portion of that tax year immediately on qualification for the exemption if the preceding owner did not receive the same exemption for that tax year.

February 13, 2025 - Good Morning!  It’s Thursday, February 13.

Most of the words in my daily devotions are, obviously, my words.  I almost always include at least one scripture verse, but, even so, His words are usually in the minority.  I often consider whether that ratio should be reversed.  Well, at least for today, it is.  Here are some words from The Word.

February 12, 2025 - The lowly button has been around for centuries. In modern clothing and fashion design, a button is a small fastener, now most commonly made of plastic. They are found on most all types of clothing from dresses, shirts, blue jeans, and even suits.

Buttons made of seashell have been found that date back to around 2000 BC. Some buttons, used more as an ornament than as a fastening device, have been found which dated back about 5,000 years.
