USDA Offers Renewal Options for Expiring Conservation Stewardship Contracts

April 3, 2018 – Agricultural producers wanting to enhance current conservation efforts are encouraged to renew their Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) contract.

Through CSP, USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) helps private landowners build their business while implementing conservation practices that help ensure the sustainability of their entire operation. 

SC Appraisal District Reminds Businesses to Render Taxable Property by April 15th

April 3, 2018 - If you own tangible personal property that is used to produce income, you must file a rendition with the Shelby County Appraisal District by April 15.

A rendition is a report that lists all the taxable property you owned or controlled on January 1 of this year. Property includes inventory and equipment used by a business. Owners do not have to render exempt property, such as church property or an agriculture producer’s equipment used for farming.

March 29, 2018 - On April 21, 1836, Texans fought and won the Battle of San Jacinto to defend Texas independence. After this victory, Texas became fully independent from Mexico. While the battle only lasted 18 minutes, hundreds of Mexicans were killed, injured or captured while only nine Texan soldiers were killed and 26 were wounded. This month, let us not forget the brave men and women we have to thank for our beautiful state, as we celebrate the 182nd anniversary of the Battle of San Jacinto.
