Members of Texas Legislature Urge Congress to Restore Secure Rural Schools, Community Self-Determination Act

March 23, 2018 Austin, TX – Today, members of the Texas Legislature sent a resolution to Congress to urge them to reauthorize the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act (SRS Act), which provides funding to counties which contain federal forest lands. The members who signed the resolution include Senators Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville), Brandon Creighton (R-Conroe), Charles Schwertner (R-Georgetown) and Representatives Trent Ashby (R-Lufkin), Ernest Bailes (R-Shepherd), Travis Clardy (R-Nacogdoches), Will Metcalf (R-Conroe), and James White (R-Hillister).

DPS Ramping Up Move Over/Slow Down Enforcement Task Force Wednesday

March 20, 2018 Lufkin – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is beginning enforcement efforts across the state focusing specifically on violations of the state’s Move Over/Slow Down law. These periodic enforcement operations by DPS Troopers are planned throughout the year at various locations in Texas, with several operations planned in March. One of those operations will take place in Angelina County on Wednesday, March 21, from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and again from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The DPS-led task force includes the Texas Department of Transportation.

17th Annual Panola County National Wild Turkey Federation Banquet

March 19, 2018 - The 17th annual Panola County National Wild Turkey Federation Banquet will be held Friday, March 30th at the Carthage Civic Center. Doors will open at 5:30pm and dinner will be served at 7:30pm. There will be a live and silent auction, games, and plenty of raffle items to give away. Single tickets are $40 and couples are $60.
