Agricultural Producers Sign Up Now for the Conservation Stewardship Program

February 1, 2018 Center – Agricultural producers wanting to enhance current conservation efforts are encouraged to apply for the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP).

Applications for CSP are accepted year round, however, applications for the current funding period must be received by March 2, 2018. Through CSP, USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) helps private landowners build their business while implementing conservation practices that help ensure the sustainability of their entire operation. 

TxDOT Newly Approved Projects Includes FM 711 in San Augustine County

February 1, 2018 - The Texas Transportation Commission on January 25 approved $288.2 million in new construction projects throughout the state with two located in the Lufkin District that total $6.3 million.

Nacogdoches County was approved for a construction project on FM 95 at Terrapin Creek that includes a bridge replacement and new bridge approaches. Longview Bridge and Road, Longview, will serve as contractor for the $1.1 million project. No timeline for completion has been set.

February 1, 2018 - The long-awaited game of the year is here and whether or not your team will vie for the Lombardi Trophy, one thing holds true – there will be lots of cheers, some tears and a whole lot of food. While enjoying some of the 1 billion chicken wings consumed on Super Bowl Sunday, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) wants to remind fans not to let foodborne illness sideline them once the game is over.

Head Start Accepting Student Applications

January 30, 2018 - Head Start is now accepting applications for early Head Start and Head Start children ages 0-5 years old.

Please note if you have a 3-year-old you want to enroll in Head Start, child must turn 3 years of age before September 1st in order to enroll at the San Augustine County ISD or Center base.

January 29, 2018 - Soon after I became pastor of The First Baptist Church of Mauriceville, Texas  in 1963, Deacon Thamar Dickerson asked me if I knew J.D. Murphree. “I sure do,” I said. “We both graduated from high school Center, Texas in 1950. I haven’t seen him since then”.. “Well, he’s our Game Warden…everyone likes him and we would like to get him in our church.” J.D.’s family lived a short distance from our church and I drove out the next day to visit him.
