Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service to Offer Professional Food Manager Certification Training Course

January 11, 2018 - Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Nacogdoches County, is offering a professional food manager certification training course. This 2-Day program will be offered for $125.00 on Monday and Tuesday, January 29th, and 30th at the Nacogdoches County Annex Building on 203 West Main Street in Nacogdoches Texas at 8:30 A.M. until 4:30 P.M. Cost includes training, materials, and a national food manager certification examination. The food manager’s certification will be valid for five years.

January 11, 2018 - On October 26th, 2017, President Trump declared the opioid epidemic as a public health emergency. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 140 Americans die every day from an opioid overdose. Now, more than ever, it is important to know the facts concerning the misuse of drugs and alcohol.

More than half of high school seniors across the country report using alcohol, and around 15 percent report using illegal drugs sometime in the past year, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

USDA Announces Proposed Rule to Amend Egg Products Inspection Regulations

January 9, 2018 Washington – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) today announced a critical step forward in making egg products safer for Americans to eat. FSIS is proposing to amend the egg products inspection regulations by requiring official plants that process egg products to develop Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) systems and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (Sanitation SOPs) and to meet other sanitation requirements consistent with the meat and poultry regulations.

January 09, 2018 - Service League Thrift Shop on the Carthage downtown square presents a Revolving Half-price Sale January 9 through February 23 . Every week a different section of the shop will feature ½ price items. All sales benefit the Sammy Brown Library and other community projects.

February 10th is the Annual Prom Dress Sale at the Carthage Service League Thrift Shop from 10 to 2. Students must bring school identifications.
