As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? A fireman? An astronaut? The president! When I was little I wanted to work in a zoo. And now - I live next door to one. Well, not quite. But sometimes it feels like it. Here’s a list of my next door neighbors - dogs, cats, cows, horses, ponies, sheep, goats, turkeys, chickens, and pot bellied pigs. At one time or the other, most all of them have paid me a visit. And I have to tell you - I love it!

On February 24, 1909, a new business was started. It was called the Hudson Motor Car Company, and it became very, very successful. At its peak, it was a close third behind Ford and Chevrolet. Millions of people around the world drove Hudson cars.
February 23, 2026 - Timpson Area Genealogy and Heritage Society welcomed their friend, Scott Sosebee, as their speaker January 21, 2026, in the Timpson Public Library annex. His subject, just in time for the Superbowl, was “Lamar Hunt and Bud Adams: Two Texans Start a league to Challenge the NFL” Mr. Sosebee, a history professor at SFASU, is Executive Director of the East Texas Historical Association as well as serving as Executive Editor of East Texas Historical Journal. Included in his resume are several published works and collaborations.
February 20, 2026 – The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) urges Texans to take steps to help prevent the introduction and spread of harmful non-native, invasive species that negatively impact the state’s natural resources and economy. National Invasive Species Awareness Week, slated for February 23 – 27, is an initiative to raise awareness of the threats of invasive species and provide solutions on how to prevent their spread.
