What's in a name? Even if you're not a pianist, when you hear the name "Steinway", you think "greatness".

On this day in 1853, Heinrich Steinweg (he later changed his name to Henry Steinway) opened a piano factory in New York City - and it's still there today. Over 90% of concert halls and music schools around the world have Steinway pianos. We're blessed to have one at First Baptist Center.

March is National Women’s History Month

March 4, 2024 - March is National Women’s History Month. What does that mean? It means that this is the month of the year that women who have made history around the world are recognized and celebrated. There are several women I know in Center, Texas, who have made history. It has been made and celebrated by women in many organizations, in church, in schools, and in their own homes. Women are a major component in many businesses that exist. They are always the backbone of the family in their homes. They are the care givers of their family in need of assistance with health issues.

State Parks Day Pass Reservations for Eclipse Open March 8

March 1, 2024 – State Park day pass reservations for April 8 will open 8 a.m. March 8 (CST).

Those hoping to view the total eclipse from a state park location can call the Texas State Parks Reservations Center at 512-389-8900 or go online for all parks except Enchanted Rock State Natural Area. Reservations for Enchanted Rock will need to be made March 11 by phone only.

TxDOT, Students Team Up to Prevent DUI Crashes During Spring Break

March 1, 2024 – As spring break approaches, TxDOT is teaming up with college students to make sure their celebrations don’t have catastrophic consequences.

The Drive Sober. No Regrets. campaign is traveling to college campuses and spring break hot spots across the state to spread the message that there is always a safe and sober way to get home.
