May 5, 2015 - The National Speech and Debate Association is proud to announce Douglas Moore as its newest diamond coach. Moore, of Center HS, Texas, received a First Diamond Award after earning 1,501 points on November 3, 2014.
May 4, 2015 - The Center Roughriders Baseball team secured first place in district last Friday night after a victory over Rusk. The Riders will be in first round playoff action this weekend against Huntington. Game 1 will be on Friday, May 8th in Center at 7 PM. Game 2 will be played on Saturday, May 9th at 1 PM in Huntington. Game 3 will follow 30 minutes following game 2 if needed.
May 4, 2015 - Whitlee Reed, a sophomore at Center High School, competed in the Region 5 High Shool Rodeo Finals in Marshall, Texas on Aprill 11th and 12th. She won Champion Barrel Racer and reserve Champion Pole Bender. Reed will compete in the THSRA State Finals on June 5th through June 13th in Abilene, Texas.
April 30, 2015 - A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of Center Independent School District (CISD) was held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Center High School Library located at 658 Roughrider Drive Center, Texas 75935.

James Greer called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and declared a quorum.
All first graders at Northwest Excelsior Elementary and Center Elementary in Center recently received free prevent tooth decay kits through the Fantastic Teeth Fan Club. Members of Newbern Masonic Lodge and Sam Samford Masonic Lodge, led by Morris Hutto and Leslie Gill, assembled and delivered kits to the schools.
The Fantastic Teeth Fan Club project focuses on preventing suffering from toothaches, reducing missed school days due to dental problems, and cutting costs for dental treatment.
April 27, 2015 - The Center High School Track team traveled to Carthage High School on Wednesday, April 22nd for the Area Track Meet. Zara Sloan, a Junior, competed in the two mile and clocked a time only two seconds off of her personal best. She came up just short of a regional bid but did a great job.
April 24, 2015 - Last week, students at CMS from Jennifer Ferguson's 4th period class participated in a Mystery Skype with a class from Elkton, Virginia. Students had to figure out where in the U.S. the other class was from by asking yes or no questions regarding their geography. The other class did the same for students at CMS. Mrs. Ferguson said, "As a class, we came up with a list of possible questions before the day of the call. Each student in the class had a job to do during the Skype call.
April 23, 2015 - On Wednesday, April 22nd, Kelsie Waller attended the Texas Garden Club Convention in Tyler, TX. She presented her speech and was awarded First place and a $500 scholarship. Congratulations to CHS Senior Kelsie Waller.
April 22, 2015 - The boys doubles team of Adam Reeves / Alec Lucas and girls doubles team of Julie Garcia / Malory Nehring finished 2nd at the UIL Region 3 tournament yesterday and earned a spot in the State Tournament. Both teams had an outstanding tournament making the finals before losing to the eventual region champions in a nail biter. The boys doubles score was 7-5, 5-7, 6-7 and the girls score was 4-6, 1-6. Center was well represented at this years tournament with 14 region qualifiers and now 4 state qualifiers.
