December 17, 2014 - The Varsity Boys Basketball team at Center High School competed with teams from the area at the Central Heights Holiday Hoopfest December 11th-13th.
December 17, 2014 - The Center High School Junior Chamber of Commerce had representatives who volunteered at the Senior Nutrition Site on Thanksgiving Day. Each year, meals are served there for Thanksgiving to those in need and these 15 students, along with Mrs. Jennifer Fausett, gave up part of their own Thanksgiving day in order to lend a hand to those in need.
Mrs. Fausett said, "The students are true examples of the phrase 'pay it forward.' They all had great stories to tell of how helping others made them feel and can't wait to help out next year."
December 16, 2014 - Congressman Louie Gohmert held the Congressional Art Competition Awards Ceremony in Marshall, Texas on Saturday, December 13th, at the Michelson Museum of Art. Two Center High School Students, Destiny McKinney and Morgan Ray had art pieces featured among the impressive collection of art displayed. Even though they did not place, the girls and their teacher, Mrs. Ruby Woodard were so honored to be a part of this event.
December 16, 2014 - Mrs. Alisha Murray's Second Grade class sponsored an Angel Tree gift in our community. They spent five days collecting money and were able to raise $134! The child the students were buying for had only requested clothing so they were able to buy a hoodie, three shirts, a pair of jeans and a lego game.
Mrs. Murray says, "I am so proud of these kids. They truly understand the meaning of Christmas!"
December 16, 2014 - Center ISD’s youngest students participated in the Jingle Bell Food Drive once again this year from December 1st-12th. In the course of two weeks pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students collected enough can goods to fill 18 large boxes to the brim with non-perishable food items.
