December 31, 2025 - Hurst Street just near the intersection with Foster Street in Center was the scene of a two-vehicle crash involving one vehicle absent a driver on December 16, 2025.

According to the Center Police Department, at around 1:48pm a passenger vehicle driven by Margaret Freeman, 83, of Timpson was northbound on Hurst Street traveling through the Foster Street intersection when a truck rolled into the street from the Napa parking lot and caused the vehicles to collide. 

December 24, 2025 - On 12-21-2025, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the Sandhill public water system, 2100013, to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

December 18, 2025 - The City of Center advises a contract boring crew has damaged the primary water feed through town at about 4:15pm. City utilities are responding to make the repair this evening. A boil water notice will be issued for impacted areas.

Update at 12:40pm:

Center Independent School District has received the all clear from city officials, and all Center ISD campuses have officially released the secure hold that was previously in place.

At no time was there a direct threat to any Center ISD campus. The secure hold was initiated as a precautionary measure due to the proximity of an off-campus incident near three district campuses. This action was taken out of an abundance of caution and in close coordination with local authorities.
