April 12, 2021 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is issuing a public health alert for approximately 211,406 pounds of raw ground turkey products, produced by Plainville Brands, LLC, a Pennsylvania establishment, due to concerns the products may have caused Salmonella Hadar illness. A recall was not requested because it is believed that the products are no longer available for consumers to purchase.
April 9, 2021 - The National Weather Service in Shreveport issued at 7:35pm, CDT Friday, April 9, 2021 a significant weather advisory for Southwestern De Soto Parish in Northwester Louisiana, and Northeastern Shelby Counties until 8:15pm CDT.
At 7:35 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Shelbyville, or 7 miles east of Center, moving northeast at 35 mph.
Penny size hail and winds in excess of 30 mph will be possible with this storm.
April 9, 2021 - The National Weather Service in Shreveport issued a Special Weather Statement at 7:05pm CDT, Friday, April 9, 2021.
Significant weather advisory for Southeastern Nacogdoches, Southwestern Shelby, Northwestern Angelina, and Northwestern San Augustine counties until 7:45pm CDT.
At 7:05pm CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Lufkin, moving east at 45 mph.
Nickel size hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with this storm.
April 9, 2021 - The National Weather Service in Shreveport issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning at 4:31pm CDT Friday, April 9, 2021
The Severe Thunderstorm Warning is for Southwestern Panola County in northeastern Texas, Southern Rusk County in northeastern Texas, Northern Nacogdoches County in eastern Texas, Northwestern Shelby County in eastern Texas, and Central Cherokee County in northeastern Texas.
The warning is until 5:30pm CDT. At 4:31pm, a severe thunderstorm was located near Sacul, or 13 miles east of Rusk, moving east at 45 mph.
April 9, 2021 – The Center City Council will hold a special ribbon cutting ceremony for the multimillion dollar streetscape renewal project Friday, April 9, 2021, at 1:30 pm at Downtown Center.
“Today’s ribbon cutting is the culmination of the hard work of the City Council, the staff, the contractor, and our residents throughout this process,” said Center Mayor, David Chadwick. “We want to welcome the public to help us celebrate this great milestone.”
April 7, 2021 - According to the Texas DSHS Covid-19 Dashboard, the data reflected Wednesday, April 7th, there have been 11 new cases added since Monday, April 5th. Of the new cases, 6 were new confirmed cases and 5 were new probable cases.
The active cases have been decreasing and have remained in the 80s since March 3rd. However, the new cases pushed the active count over the 90 threshold to 93 on Tuesday and 98 on Wednesday.
April 6, 2021 - Center Police Officers, assisted by Texas Department of Public Safety, responded to a residence on Kindle Street Thursday, April 1, 2021 in response to an assault in progress at around 8am.
