July 31, 2020 - The Shelby County Emergency Management office reports as of 8:00am on Friday, July 31, 2020, TxDSHS has reported 9 new cases increasing the cumulative case count to 371.
The death count is 14 for Shelby County. (The DSHS website dashboard now shows 16 deaths for Shelby County as of July 30th.)
According to the state's algorithm to determine recoveries, 13 new recoveries were reported and the total of recoveries is 279. The number of active cases is 78.

July 30, 2020 - The 6th reminder postcard from the US Census is set to arrive between July 22nd and July 28th in homes that have not responded to the Census.
Shelby County Judge Allison Harbison asks Shelby County to respond to the Census, "I would like to encourage and remind everyone to fill out their Census 2020."
July 30, 2020 - Tyson Foods in Center was targeted by vandals Wednesday, July 29, 2020, as the sign in front of the processing facility was defaced in the morning.
July 30, 2020 - Crews will begin an overlay project Monday, August 3 in Shelby County on SH 87 and motorists are urged to stay alert for traffic control that will be in place.
The work will begin just south of SL 500 in Center and will continue southbound on SH 87 throughout the week, weather permitting. As work moves along the 1.5 mile work zone, there will be moving equipment and workers throughout the project.
July 30, 2020 - Shelby County Emergency Management contacted TxDSHS about the discrepancy in the total number of confirmed cases that has been reported locally and the total number of reported cases posted on the DSHS web site for Shelby County.
DSHS reported back they had failed to report 12 cases over the course of the past 2 weeks. In addition, one case had been reported twice with 2 different addresses and one case was discovered to be a Nacogdoches County resident.
The following numbers reflect all of these changes.

The death count is 14 for Shelby County. (The DSHS website dashboard now shows 17 deaths for Shelby County.)
According to the state's algorithm to determine recoveries, no new recoveries were reported and the total of recoveries remains at 266 and active cases is now 68.

July 29, 2020 - Site lease agreements between EIP Holdings II, LLC and Shelby County for radio communications were approved during Commissioners Court on July 22, 2020.
The agreement facilitates the use of a tower owned by EIP Holdings II, LLC for the communications of the Shelby County Sheriff's Department, Road and Bridge Department, Adult Probation Department and the Volunteer fire departments of the county.
A motion carried to approve the total payment of $17,700 a year to EIP Holdings II, LLC for this lease.
July 28, 2020 - FM 711 was the scene of a single-vehicle crash Tuesday, July 28, 2020.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper Dustin Ramos, at 7:15pm DPS Troopers were dispatched to a single-vehicle rollover in the 3000 block of FM 711 just north of CR 1005.
