August 13, 2020 - The Shelby County Emergency Management office reports as of 8:25am on Thursday, August 13, 2020, TxDSHS has reported 4 new cases and the cumulative case count is now 405. The death count is 14 for Shelby County. (The DSHS website dashboard shows 18 deaths for Shelby County as of Aug 5th.)
According to the state's algorithm to determine recoveries, four new recoveries were reported and the total of recoveries increases to 337. The number of active cases is 54.

August 12, 2020 - TxDOT crews will be seal coating Thursday, August 13, and Monday, August 17, in Shelby County on US 59 from SH 87 to the Rusk County line. Motorists are urged to reduce speed and obey all traffic control.

August 10, 2020 - A truck-tractor pulling a live haul trailer overturned on FM 2427 Monday, August 10 at 12:40pm and blocked the roadway until the scene was cleared at 5:20pm.
August 10, 2020 - Shelby County Judge, Allison Harbison joined several county elected officials from the region on July 29 for an online video conference with state Sen. Robert Nichols.
The Texas Association of Counties (TAC) organized the event at the request of county officials from Nichols’ Senate District 3. These luncheons are usually held at a local venue, but because of COVID-19, TAC hosted the event virtually through an online platform.

August 7, 2020 - The Coronation and the month long series of activities for the East Texas Poultry Festival Queen’s Pageant has been postponed.
The Princesses and their escorts participate in a number of fun social events as well as several mandatory rehearsals over the course of four weeks. Due to the circumstances at this time, the Committee felt in order keep all participating students, parents and committee members safe, the pageant has been postponed.
