NWS Issues Special Weather Statement until 9:30pm

April 29, 2016 - Significant weather advisory for Central Angelina, San Augustine, Southeastern Nacogdoches and Shelby Counties until 9:30pm CDT.

At 8:41pm CDT, doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Etoile or 15 miles northeast of Lufkin moving northeast at 85mph. Dime size hail and winds in excess of 30mph will be possible with this storm.

NWS Extends Severe Thunderstorm Warning Until 5am (Update)

April 29, 2016 - (Update) The Thunderstorm warning has expired and a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is now in effect until 5am.

April 29, 2016 - The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Southeastern Rusk County, Southwestern Panola County, Northwestern San Augustine County, Northern Nacogdoches County and Western Shelby County until 9:30pm CDT.

Public Notice To Boil Water, Shelbyville Water System (Notice Lifted)

May 2, 2016 Update - It is no longer necessary for Shelbyville water customers to boil their drinking water due to a water main break on April 26, 2016.


April 27, 2016 - Due to water main break, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required our water System, Shelbyville Water, to notify customers of the need to boil their water prior to consumption.

April 26, 2016 - The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch 113 in effect until 5am CDT Wednesday for Southwest Arkansas, Northwest Louisiana, Southeast Oklahoma, and Northeast Texas including Shelby, Angelina, Bowie, Camp Cass, Cherokee, Franklin, Gregg, Harrison, Marion, Morris, Nacogdoches, Panola, Red River, Rusk, Sabine, San Augustine, Smith, Titus, Upshur, and Wood.

Shelby County Grand Jury Indicts 29 Cases

April 26, 2016 - A Shelby County grand jury impaneled for the January 2016 term of the 273rd Judicial District Court met on Monday, April 26, 2016 and indicted 29 cases. 

Robert Jewell Harris and Rachael Ann Lowry were equally indicted for burglary of a building, state jail felony. The indictments allege, on June 13, 2015 Harris and Lowry entered a building or portion of a building without the consent of James Hagler, the owner, and attempted to commit or committed the theft of $1,000 belonging to Hagler.
