January 28, 2026 - On January 17, 2026 and January 26, 2026, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the N.E.W. Water Supply, #2030034, to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

`January 27, 2026 - Due to lingering effects of the winter storm and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our students and staff, Center ISD will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, January 28.
January 28, 2026 - Emergency responders with the Center Fire Department and Shelby County Sheriff's Department responded to a two-vehicle crash incident on State Highway 7 East just east of SL 500 on January 24, 2026.
January 28, 2026 - Center Utility crews are continuing to locate and repair water leaks as the ground thaws following recent freezing temperatures. Water storage and production systems are operating normally; however, overall levels are reduced due to losses from leaks on system mains and private water lines, which may impact water availability.
January 27, 2026 - Shelbyville ISD will have a two (2) hour late start on Wednesday, January 28th. This late start is being taken out of an abundance of caution to help ensure roads are safe for travel.
