Shelby County Commissioners heard a final update involving the Jackson Well Project, funded with American Rescue Plan Act funds (ARPA), during their October 25, 2023, meeting.
The commissioners discussed the payment for final expenses to complete the Jackson Well with the total for these items being $21,463.07. Eric Garrett with Paxton Water Supply addressed the court, ”I want to give come preliminary ‘thank you’s’ to all of you, to you Judge, to this court, to Ann [Blackwell] invaluable help,” said Garrett.
November 14, 2023 - Nacogdoches Street in Center (State Highway 7) was the scene of a two-vehicle crash involving a Center Police Department vehicle and a utility truck on November 14, 2023, at 2:54pm.
November 16, 2023 - Mumbai, Maharashtra, Kilitch Healthcare India Limited is voluntarily recalling the eye drops products listed in the table below to the consumer level with all lots within expiry with expiration dates ranging from November, 2023 to September, 2025 for all the below mentioned products. These products are being recalled due to potential safety concerns after FDA investigators found insanitary conditions.
The water on Denning Rural WSC no longer requires boiling.
On November 9, 2023, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the Denning Rural Water Supply, #2030004, to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
November 15, 2023 - A Shelby County Grand Jury handed down 31 indictments on Thursday, October 5, 2023. The grand jury was impaneled for the July 2023 term of the 123rd/273rd Judicial District Courts.
November 7, 2023 - Voting results for the 2023 November Constitutional Amendments election and the City of Center Mayor election are in with all boxes counted. In the City of Center election, incumbent David Chadwick retains his position as Mayor. In the Constitutional Amendments, the majority of Shelby County voted to approve all of the amendments except for Proposition 13 - "The constitutional amendment to increase the mandatory age of retirement for state justices and judges." The final vote was 'against' on Proposition 13.
November 7, 2023 - In the Tenaha Independent School District special election for Voter Approval Tax Ratification Election (VATRE) the vast majority of voters were in favor.
