Shelbyville ISD Cancels School

January 23, 2024 (10:47pm) - Due to the heavy rain and hazardous road conditions, Shelbyville ISD is canceling school for tomorrow, Wednesday, January 24, 2024.


January 23, 2024 - Due to the road conditions, Shelbyville ISD will begin classes two hours later than normally scheduled (9:45am) on Wednesday, January 24th. Buses will pick up students two hours later than normal if road conditions allow.

Please consider road conditions and use your best judgment when traveling.

Shelbyville Speech and Debate Students Compete in State Congress Competition

January 18, 2024 - On January 9-10, Shelbyville Speech and Debate students Maddie Lout and Travis Caporali competed in the U.I.L. state congress competition held at the University of Texas in Austin and the Texas Capitol Building. Both students advanced to the finals with Travis Caporali finishing in the top 10 and Maddie Lout placing 4th in division AA.

While the actual competition takes place over the span of two days with fourteen hours of speaking, students spend months preparing their speeches to be delivered in a mock legislative process of democracy.
