They will compete April 28 and 29 at the Regional Track Meet hosted at Palestine High School, 1600 S. Loop 256, Palestine, Texas 75801. One day admission is $12 adult and $7 students. Two day admission pass is $20 adult and $10 students.

Joaquin Youth Brings Home Rodeo Wins in 6-Under Group

Pineywoods Youth Rodeo AssociationApril 17, 2017 - Jacob Griffin, a young Joaquin cowboy, won two saddles and several belt buckles recently to add to the family trophy room.

Griffin won the all around saddle for his age group at the Pineywoods Youth Rodeo Association in March along with first place buckles in cloverleaf barrels, straightaway barrels, and pole bending.

A couple of weeks ago, he captured the 6-under all around champion saddle at the CTYRA Finals in McGregor, TX and was also awarded buckles in pole bending, goat ribbon pulling, and barrel racing.

Jacob enjoys roping, baseball, hunting, fishing, and especially operating logging and farm equipment.

Alexis Rumbo Advances to State in Fishing

Alexis Rumbo, granddaughter of Frankie and Kay DeSoto of Center.April 17, 2017 - Frankie and Kay DeSoto of Center shared with Shelby County Today their 15-year-old granddaughter Alexis Rumbo from Brownsboro, Texas recently made it to State in fishing!

Rumbo and her partner Bryce Smith will go to Lake Ray Roberts May 20. Alexis has been an essential member of the team dominating with the number of catches during each tournament.

She has beat out all of the Brownsboro teams, as well as several others throughout the division. She is a freshman girl beating out older Junior and Senior fishermen.

The DeSotos are proud grandparents and congratulate Alexis on her great achievement and wish her the best at State competition!

Joaquin Tennis Teams Win Overall District Championship

April 13, 2017 - Congratulations to the Joaquin Ram Tennis Team. They competed on Wednesday, April 5 in the District 2A Tennis Meet. Both the boy’s and the girl’s tennis teams won the overall District Championship. n

Maci McDaniel, Brooklyn Smith, Jacy Williams, Katelyn Jackson, Samuel Brazzel, Chris Lightfoot, Kaleb Wilburn and Santiago Ruiz will be advancing to the Regional Tennis Meet. It will be held April 17 and 18 in Corsicana, Texas. Good luck at Regional’s!!

Riders Baseball Game Rescheduled

April 11, 2017 - The Riders baseball game has been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 12 at Rusk H.S. at 7:00 p.m. This will be a varsity only game.

Shelbyville Softball Game Rain Out

April 11, 2017 - Shelbyville Lady Dragon Softball game in Woden has been rained out today, April 11, 2017. We have re-scheduled for Monday, April 17th at 5:00 pm in Woden.

Center JV, V Boys and Girls District 16 4A Tennis Champions (Updated)

April 11, 2017 - All 1st and 2nd place finishers in the Varsity brackets will advance to the Region Tournament held at Longview HS April 18-19.

Center will have a second place playback match with Henderson on Tuesday, April 11 at 3:30 to determine second and third place in Mixed Doubles. All other Center matches have finished and Center has 12 advancing out of 16 so far and look to add two more after school.

Reserve your seat: Fan Bus for Roughrider Soccer Friday, April 7

April 6, 2017 - The Center ISD Transportation Department will be providing a fan bus to the Soccer game on Friday, April 7, 2017.

Prices will not include tickets into the game. Fan bus prices are: Adults $5.00, Students $3.00 and children under 5 years of age are free.

All students under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Please call the Transportation Department at 936-598-2880 to reserve your seat on the bus.

The buses will be loading at the OLD Bus Barn located on Stadium drive near Moffett at 9:30 a.m. The buses will be leaving promptly at 10:00 to ensure on time arrival at the game.

Roughrider Soccer Team Wins in Overtime, 3-1

April 4, 2017 (Bracket) - Center Roughriders soccer team defeated East Chambers in overtime 3-1 in Jasper on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in the Regional Quarterfinal game of the 4A Boys Soccer State Championship.

The next round, Regional Semifinals will be at 3pm April 7th at A&M Consolidated High School against the Washington Eagles.
