June 1, 2015 - The Center ISD Athletic Department Summer workout program "Rider Course" will be on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from June 8th through July 16th.

All girls (grades incoming 7th-12th) will be from 8:00-9:45 AM.

Middle School boys (incoming 7th-9th) will be from 9:00-10:45 AM.

High School Boys will be from 10:00-11:45 AM. This is for all Center Roughrider athletes.

May 29, 2015 - On Tuesday, May 26th, the Center High School Athletic Department celebrated its athletes with a Banquet of Champions at the John D. Windham Civic Center. Each sport recognized its team members and gave individual awards for the excellence achieved during the 2014-15 seasons.

May 18, 2015 - The Center High School Varsity Baseball team claimed the Area Championship in Gary last Friday night in a dominate double header against Groesbeck.

The Riders outscored the Goats 29-2 in a two game series that sends them to the next round of playoffs this week.

The Roughriders will be against a familiar foe, the Hudson Hornets.

The series will begin on Thursday night, May 21st in Gary with game time at 7 PM. Game 2 will be on Friday night, May 22nd in Gary at 7 PM and if needed, Game 3 will be on Saturday, May 23rd in Gary at 1 PM.

May 13, 2015 - The 4th annual District 5 Shotgun games was held at Pines Gun Club in Lufkin, Texas on Saturday May 9th, 2015. District 5 consists of twenty- two counties. Shelby County 4h shooters had 14 kids participating; Hagan Craig, Tucker Scarber, Seth Shamblin, Kutter Milford, Jaxon Brittain Trey Box, Colton Gutermuth, Corey Denney, Logan Holloway, Lance Holloway, Aidan Arwine, Nic Lambert, Collin Vickers and Wade Baty.

May 6, 2015 - LeTourneau University freshman Kristen Ladner of the women’s tennis team was named All-American Southwest Conference Player of 2015 after a standout first year with the YellowJackets. The Lufkin, Texas native was named to the conference-wide singles team due to her posting an 8-7 overall mark including an 8-3 mark at women’s singles to lead the YellowJackets. Her eight wins were the most among her LETU teammates and in the conference.

Ladner was also named to the All-ASC East Division First Team Women’s Singles and the All-ASC East Division Second Team Women’s Singles No. 1 doubles along with fellow freshman Rachel Morisseau. Ladner is only the second player in program history to earn first team all-ASC honors and the fourth player in school history to earn first team all-division recognition.

Kristen is a 2014 graduate of Hudson High School, where she was a District Champion, Regional Champion and State Qualifier. Kristen is the daughter of Rodney and Carla Ladner (Hudson’s Head Tennis Coach) of Lufkin. She is the granddaughter of Carl O. and Helen Birdwell of San Augustine & Joe and Carolyn Ladner also of San Augustine.

May 4, 2015 - The Center Roughriders Baseball team secured first place in district last Friday night after a victory over Rusk. The Riders will be in first round playoff action this weekend against Huntington. Game 1 will be on Friday, May 8th in Center at 7 PM. Game 2 will be played on Saturday, May 9th at 1 PM in Huntington. Game 3 will follow 30 minutes following game 2 if needed.

May 4, 2015 - Whitlee Reed, a sophomore at Center High School, competed in the Region 5 High Shool Rodeo Finals in Marshall, Texas on Aprill 11th and 12th. She won Champion Barrel Racer and reserve Champion Pole Bender. Reed will compete in the THSRA State Finals on June 5th through June 13th in Abilene, Texas.

The THSRA in the largest High School Rodeo Association in the nation and they sponsor over 125 rodeos per year throughout ten regions across Texas. Approximately 650 student athletes and 800 horses will call Abilene home for the week!
