January 7, 2015 - Panola College beat Jacksonville College 63-59 on Wednesday night with the help of Charlynn Perry, who was the Fillies leading scorer with 16 points. Fillies locked in the win in the fourth quarter on a three-pointer from Perry.

Even though Jacksonville College outplayed the Fillies in the first half of the game, Panola College came back with excellent second half play. The Fillies had a late run scoring a game-high 23 points in the final quarter on the strength of a 18-3 run.

Perry having a stand out second half, was 63% (5-for-8) of shots attempted as well as 50% (3-for-6) of threes attempted and going (3-for-4) from the free throw line.

Also two other Fillies scored in double double digit points for Panola College. Kia Fisker scored 14 points with 9 rebounds and Amanda Cruz had 11 points. Other Fillies who chipped in were Teanna Frances Henderson and Raemeisha Claxton (6 points apiece) ,R'Trevia Randolph (5 points), J'Lene Martinez (3 points) and Laura Chavez (2 points).

The Fillies look to play again Saturday, January 9 at 2:00 pm against Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, TX.

January 7, 2015 - Carthage, Texas – The Panola College men’s basketball team defeated Jacksonville College, 85-72 here Wednesday night. With the win the Ponies improve their record to 13-4 and 4-2 in Region XIV play. “Our guys have been anxious to get back on the court ever since Saturday nights ball game.” Head Coach Grant McMillan said. “We took tremendous pride in guarding in the half court tonight. I challenged them all week to pay attention to the small details within our defense and they responded.” He added.

After being down 11 points early in the ball game, the Ponies steadily clawed their way back into the game taking a 40-36 halftime lead. In the second half, Panola gradually extended their lead to 19 points with just under 5:00 minutes remaining in the game before claiming the 13 points victory.

Panola was led by five separate double-digit scorers. Charles Tucker (Lansing, Michigan) recorded a team high 18 points. T’yonte Robertson (Cincinnati, Ohio) tallied 16 points and Devyn Wilson (Brooklyn, New York) netted three 3 point shots for a total of 14 points. Both Jonathan Wiley (Houston, Texas) and Chan Williams-Bey (Hartford, Connecticut) scored 10 points in the win. James Suber (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) had his best rebounding game of the year chasing down 14. As a team, Panola made 29 free throws and shot 51 percent from the field.

Panola will next be in action this upcoming Saturday, January 10th when they hit the road to take on Lee College. Tip-off is set for 6:00 PM on the campus of Lee College in Houston, Texas.

January 6, 2016 - The Center Lady Riders JV team won against Gladewater by a three point margin in an exciting game on Tuesday, January 5, 2016. The final score was Center 29, Gladewater 26. Center's points were scored by Harper 11 points, Williams 10 points, and Johnson, Fulbright, Bolton, and Watts each scored 2 points. 12 of Gladewater's points were put on the board by Lee.

Lady Riders Varsity team fell to Gladewater with a final score of 25-41. Center's points were scored by Hightower 8, Rankin 4, Lilly 3, Mcgee 2, Nichols 2, Hicks 2, Hubbard 2, and Handy 2. For Gladewater, Oliver scored 10 of the teams 41 points.

January 4, 2016 - The Radio Team is back! Beginning January 5, 2016, Roughrider Radio will broadcast all remaining Center Boys Varsity basketball games on KDET channels 930 AM, 92.5 FM, and over the Internet on all smart devices on the KDET channel on the “Tune-In” Ap.

If you cannot make it to the game, tune in every Tuesday and Friday evening at 7:15 p.m. to listen to the ‘Riders as they begin defense of their 4A District 19 Championship and make another huge playoff run. This Tuesday, the ‘Riders square off against the Chapel Hill Bulldogs as they continue to tune up for district play. January 1, 2016 - Center Roughriders Boys Basketball games on Jan 1st and Jan 2nd have been cancelled.

Riders will play Tuesday night at home vs Chapel Hill, starting with Freshmen at 5:00 pm.

December 31, 2015 - On the third and final day of Tenaha's Seventh Annual Holiday Hoops basketball tournament, on Wednesday, the Joaquin Rams boy's team defeated the Garrison Bulldogs in their final Consolation bracket game. This ended the JHS squad's competition for the tourney with a 2-2 standing.

The Tenaha Lady Tigers won their third place game over the Chireno Lady Owls by a 53-47 margin. Tenaha went into the final period with a narrow 34-32 lead. Scores early in the final period from Arlicia Roland and Keanya Davis gave the Lady Tigers a 38-34 cushion at the 5:51 mark. Just one minute later the Lady Owls tied the game with a 3-pointer by Brian Dubois.

The Lady Tigers went on a run aided by 3-point plays by Arlicia Roland and Brooke McClure. Tenaha also took full advantage of getting into the double-bonus for free throws in the late stages to maintain their lead.

The Tenaha Boy's Tiger team also claimed the third place honors with a 60-59 win over the LaPoynor Flyers. THS led 22-11 at the end of the first period but LaPoynor steadily chipped away at their lead throughout the game. LaPoynor gained the lead with 13 seconds remaining in the contest but Tenaha's Trai Gardner sank two clutch free throws with just .4 seconds left to clinch the 1-point win.

The tournament's Girl's Championship game saw Lapoynor win over Lipan. Lipan won the Boy's Championship over Carthage. Over seventy games were played during the tournament.

Tenaha Lady Tigers

December 31, 2015 - The Tenaha Lady Tigers Varsity Basketball team advanced to the semifinal round of Tenaha's Seventh Annual Holiday Hoops Basketball Tournament on Tuesday but it wasn't easy and took two overtimes to get the 65-60 win.

When Lady Tiger Brooke McClure hit a 3-point basket with 4.22 remaining in the game Tenaha had a 50-40 lead, however, Winnsboro's Kelsey Green had other plans.The Junior guard scored ten straight points to tie the game at 50-50 at the end of regulation.

The Lady Tigers and Lady Raiders fought hard for four minutes in the first overtime but the game was knotted at 59-59 and then went in to the double overtime.

Keanya Davis started the second overtime period with a 3-point play after being fouled on a breakaway layup and sinking a foul shot. LaPorsha Perry, Davis, and Bianca Davison all sank crucial free throws after the Lady Raiders had to foul when their own shots from the field missed their marks.

The Joaquin Lady Rams Varsity girl's basketball team fell to the Slocum Lady Mustangs in a close game which was decided by a bucket made by SHS in the last three seconds. The game ended with Joaquin trailing 45-43. The Lady Rams trailed by nine points at the end of the third period but they kept fighting and tied the game up at 40-40 when Katelyn Jackson sank two clutch free throws after Katelyn Martinez has stolen the ball at mid-court. Slocum went on another run but Lady Ram Daysa Lane hit a bucket that retied the contest at 43-43 with just 22 seconds remaining in the game.

Lady Mustang Taylor Clark hit a jump shot which clinched the win for Slocum with less than three seconds remaining and advanced SHS on to the Bracket A Consolation Championship on Wednesday.

December 30, 2015 - The Joaquin Rams Varsity basketball team dropped their second straight basketball game and are now 1-2 in Tenaha's Holiday Hoops tournament action. The 42-39 loss came to the Broaddus Bulldogs on Tuesday during Boy's Consolation Bracket B competition. The Rams continued on to face Garrison on Wednesday morning for another consolation round-robin style contest.

The Tenaha Tigers Varsity team suffered their first loss of the Holiday Hoops tournament when they fell to the Lipan Indians by a 77-54 margin Tuesday night at Tenaha's SEC. The Tigers found themselves trailing 12-18 at the end of the first period and 19-31 at the midway intermission. In the third quarter, Tenaha trailed by as much as 19 points but they rallied to pull to within 40-51 by the start of the fourth quarter.

Colton Goeke pulled THS to within nine points with a 3-pointer with 6:44 left in the game but Lipan's Tate Phillip's 14, fourth-quarter, points helped LHS out-score Tenaha on their way to the 23-point win. Tenaha moved on to the third place game against LaPoynor at Tenaha's SEC on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
