April 2, 2015 - Shelbyville varsity baseball defeated Joaquin on Tuesday March 31st.

A big 1st inning by the dragons, with hits by freshman Christian Schilder and junior, Tyler Tremble produced 4runs. Shelbyville never trailed in the game and went on to win by a score of 6-4.

Dragon freshman, Ryan Bailey pitched 5 innings allowing only 1 earned run, and senior, CJ Watson closed the game out pitching two strong innings. Both teams left the bases loaded several times in a hard fought 23-2a district matchup.

The Dragons and Rams both have 3-3 district records and will wrap up first round of district play on Friday, April 3rd. Dragons will travel to Gary and the Rams will play Teneha.

 March 30, 2015 - On Friday, March 27th, the Center Roughrider Varsity Boys Soccer team traveled to Crockett High School to take on the Mexia Blackcats. In the first half of play, the Riders went ahead 2-0 with goals by Senior Captain, Gilberto Vega and Freshmen Marcos Lopez. The boys put up a great defense and were able to hold the Blackcats scoreless as they entered the second half of play.

Mexia came out aggressively and tied the game up 2-2. With only eight minutes left to play, Sophomore Aung Thein scored the game winning goal claiming the Bi-District Championship and that would send the Roughriders to the second round.

The Riders will be back in action for the Area Championship against Hardin-Jefferson. The game will be at Allen Academy in Bryan, TX. on Thursday, April 2nd at 3 PM. The address for Allen Academy is 3201 Boonville Rd. Bryan, TX.

March 30, 2015 - On the morning of Mach 28th 2015, Josh Horton and son Logan took a fishing trip they will Always remember!!

20 mins after being on the water, Logan believed he was "hung up" on a stump. After minutes of trying to free his line, the monster bass jumped out of the water, followed by several exciting minutes, he was finally able to wrestle the fish in the boat!

The Daddy, Son duo were fishing at Lake Sam Rayburn and Logan was using a Texas Rigged Lizard when he caught this 8.8 lb wall hanger !!

March 30, 2015 - Center High School Sophomore, Octavious Evans has been selected to the All-Region team for Region 3. To receive a spot on the All-Region team, players must be nominated by their coach and then the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches selection committee chooses the top 20 players out of the eight districts and almost 50 teams.

This means that Octavious is in the top twenty players in our region. Congratulations to Octavious and the rest of the Center Roughrider Basketball team!

March 27, 2015 Dogwoods are blooming and fish are getting ready to spawn. The water temperature on Lake Murvaul is 68-72 degrees. The crappie and catfish are in 3 feet of water and in the grass. They are biting white jig, chartreuse jig and minnows on a slip bobber.

March 26, 2015 - The Tenaha Tigers traveled to Shelbyville Tuesday and took home a hard fought win.. Tyler Davison pitched 6 outstanding innings and held the Dragons to only 3 runs. Trevin Stewart came in and closed things out in style by catching the first hit at the mound and tossing it to Hunter Wagstaff for an out . Keith Holland catching a pop fly for the second out. The final out came as Stewart caught another off the mound...Big hits came from all over the Tiger roster . Great game Tigers and well played Dragons.

March 25, 2015 - Desere' Cooper and Jaz Atkins, traveled to Corpus Christi for the state meet over spring break along with their coach, Carrie Obregon. Desere' had qualified to participate and once they arrived at the meet they learned that Jaz had the opportunity to participate also. Headed into the deadlift, Desere' was in third place and going for a weight that would possibly move her into 2nd she was unable to successfully make her lift. Jaz, however was able to make her lifts and placed 4th in her class. Congratulations to both of these young ladies for an outstanding powerlifting season!

March 25, 2015 - The Henderson County Whizbang was held at Rose City Flying Clays on Saturday, March 21. Shelby County 4H Shooters had twelve kids that participated in the shoot.

In the Junior division Seth Shamblin won 1st in Skeet, Trap, Whizbang and Sporting clays. He was also high point overall (HOA) and won a belt buckle.

In the Intermediate division Logan Holloway won 1st in Skeet, 3rd in Trap and 2nd in Whizbang. He was also the HOA winner and won a belt buckle.

In Senior I Nic Lambert placed 4th in skeet and 2nd in sporting clays. Konner Windham placed 3rd in sporting clays.

March 24, 2015 - Bear Baseball – The Timpson High School baseball team won their first district game against Shelbyville on Monday, March 16th with a score of 5-4. Last night the team won against Mt. Enterprise 15-10. Attached is a picture of the team. Left to right: Coach Billy Bryant, Hunter Smith, Cutter Smith, Hayden Smith, James Marshall, Jaden Johnson, Chandler Burgay, Keaton Bush, Brandon Torres, Kaeson Gentry, Brandon Addison, Chris Piro, Chase Clepper, Blake Johnson, Coach Chad Lawrence. The team has a 6-0 record and 3-0 in district.

Lady Bear Softball – The Lady Bears played hard last night against Gary but fell a bit short with a score of 6-4.

March 24, 2015 - The Shelbyville High School Lady Dragons Powerlifting program made history by producing the school’s first gold medal state champions, Harlie Hagler and Katie Casey, at the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association State Meet held in Corpus Christi on Saturday March 21. Savannah Talbert also won a fourth place medal at the state meet. The seven member team Shelbyville High School Lady Dragons Powerlifting team consisting of Freshman Katie Casey, Sophomores Hannah Hall and Kennedy Parker, Junior Cleosha Jeter, and Seniors Harlie Hagler, Savannah Talbert, and Tristan Wilburn, had all seven girls finish in the top 10 of their respective weight classes at the state meet. The Lady Dragons finished third as a team in the state, trailing only Champion Hawley High School and Runner-up Seagraves High School.

Savannah finished her senior year with her best total of the season of 715 pounds in the 123 pound division. She had her best squat and deadlift of the season at 285 pounds and 305 pounds respectively. She also set a regional record of 300 pounds in deadlift. Savannah also earned her way on to the Academic All State 2nd Team.

Katie also saved her best day for the state meet, posting her best total of 955, best squat of 415 and best deadlift of 385 pounds. She was in 2nd place 60 pounds behind the leader going into her last lift. The stage was set for a come from behind win and Katie needed to deadlift 25 more pounds than her previous best of 360 in order to take gold. She rose to the occasion and pulled 385 pounds from the floor giving her the win.

Harlie was the silver medalist last year at the state meet and added 110 pounds to last years state total for a 910 pound gold medal performance. Her 400 pound squat was good enough for her to earn the ‘’Outstanding Squat’’ award for the heavy weight platform. Harlie had her best bench of the season at 185 pounds leading her to a 35 pound victory. Harlie added an Academic All State 1st Team selection to her Championship day.
