February 3, 2016 - Center Boys Varsity faced Carthage in a basketball game Tuesday, February 2, 2016 winning 56-47. The team was down by 7 points at the end of the 3rd period with Carthage leading each period. Center rallied in the end to score a whopping 23 points holding Carthage to only 7 points and taking the lead for the win.

The final score was 56 Center, 47 Carthage. Points scored in the game were Jaterious Evans (13), Octavious Evans (11), Kyle Parks (9), Tyrone Roland (8), Lamarcus Goodwin (4), Sayoddrick Barnes (4), DeCorey McGee (2), and Ja'Dus Johnson (1).

The boys next game will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at home against Rusk.

February 2, 2016 - The Shelbyville 8th Grade Boys Basketball won the Hemphill Basketball Tournament on January 9th. They defeated the Center Roughriders in the Championship Game.

February 2, 2016 - The Lady Dragons defeated Beckville 38-16 Tuesday night in district play to advance to 4-2 in district. Lady Dragon points scored were: J. Ross (16 pts), K. Vaughn (2 pts), J. Jenkins (12 pts), L. Holbrook (4 pts) and J. Osby (4 pts).

February 2, 2016 - The Lady Dragons defeated Timpson 38 to 34 in District Play to improve to 5-2.

 

February 2, 2016 - The Lady Dragon Red basketball team defeated West Sabine in their final JH game of the season. They finished the season 8-2 to finished 2nd in district. Lady Dragon points scored were: J. Bolton (12 pts), Gates (3 pts), K. Murry (2 pts), L. Vickers (1 pt), A. Moore (2 pts) and T. Barnes (2 pt).

January 30, 2016 - Center Varsity Boys earn a decisive victory Friday, January 29, 2016 against Henderson with a final score of 82 - 50.

January 28, 2016 - Carthage, Texas – The Panola College men’s basketball team defeated Tyler Junior College here Wednesday night, 74-63. With the win, the Ponies elevate their record to 17-5 and 8-3 in Region 14 play. “Again, our guys gave tremendous effort the second half of the ball game.” Head Coach Grant McMillan said. “Tyler was unbelievably long and our guys had to make some adjustments on the offensive end.” He stated.

Trading baskets early in the ball game, Tyler eventually took a nine point lead late in the first half. Panola closed the gap to six points, trailing 34-28 at intermission. Again, both teams traded baskets the first six minutes of the second half before the Ponies tied the ball game at 51 with 9:08 remaining in the second half. A steady offensive attack found Panola gain a 14 point lead before winning by the final tally.

Leading the way offensively for Panola was Charles Tucker (Lansing, Michigan) with 19 points, 10 of those coming from the free throw line. He also dished out 10 assists. Chan Williams-Bey (Hartford, Connecticut) scored in double figures adding 14 points. Also scoring in double figures was Tyonte Robertson (Cincinnati, Ohio) with 10. Tope Arikawe (Nigeria) swatted a season-high six blocks and Devyn Wilson (Brooklyn, New York) forced three steals in the victory. As a team, Panola held Tyler to 29 second half points and shot 80 percent from the free throw line.

Panola will next be in action this upcoming Saturday, January 30th when they hit the road to take on Navarro College. Tip-off is set for 4:00 PM in Corsicana, Texas.

January 28, 2016 - The Little Dribbler players (Timberwolves) traveled to Tatum TX to cheer for CHS basketball teams this week. The kids enjoyed watching the game and learned a lot from the experience.

The Timberwolves are coached by Jesse Ruiz and Travis Belin.
