October 6, 2022 - The District volleyball tournament scheduled for October 15th has been cancelled. Middle School's last volleyball game is Monday October 17th, here in Shelbyville first game at 4:30. 2 teams will play Gary Middle school teams, and our other 2 teams will play each other.

October 5, 2022 - The Center Rider Tennis team travelled to Hudson on Tuesday, October 4 to determine the District 17 Championship. The match would start with doubles and the Riders pulled out a few necessary close match ups to take a commanding 6-1 lead. The singles matches would split with Hudson winning 6 and Center 6 which gave the Riders an overall 12-7 victory!

Playoffs will begin next week and the Riders will face Franklin who is the #4 team from District 18. The match up has yet to be finalized for a location but will be played on Monday afternoon.

The Center Roughriders varsity football team fell to the Rusk Eagles by a 40-35 score at Eagles Stadium last Friday. Center is now 4-2. They have a 1-1 record in District 8 4A-2 conference action. The ‘Riders have an open week for October 7, 2022. They will play the Van Vandals in two weeks.

The Joaquin Rams are now 2-0 in District 11 2A-1 action this season. Joaquin won at Garrison last Friday by a 34-21 score. The Rams will host the Grapeland Sandies on Friday, October 7 at 7 p.m. Grapeland is 0-2 in the conference and 1-5 overall.

The Shelbyville Dragons had a bye last Friday. They are 3-2 this season and 0-1 in District 11 2A-1 competition. They will host the Garrison Bulldogs (4-2, 1-1) on Friday, October 7 at 7 p.m.

The Tenaha Tigers are now 2-3 and they had a bye for Friday, September 30. The Tigers will host the 5-0 Price Carlisle Indians next Friday, October 7. Kickoff at Raymond Jackson Stadium is at 7 p.m. This will be Tenaha’s first conference game.

The Timpson Bears are 6-0 after defeating San Augustine by a 55-6 score at Wolves Stadium. The Bears are 2-0 now in District 11 2A-1 play. The Bears will enjoy a bye week for October 7. They will host the West Sabine Tigers in two weeks.

San Augustine Wolves Stadium on Friday, September 30, 2022 –

The Timpson Bears varsity football team improved their season record to 6-0 with a 55-6 conference win over the San Augustine Wolves (0-5) on Friday. The Bears now hold a 2-0 District 11 2A mark.

Timpson gained a 6-0 advantage at the 10:05 minute mark of the first quarter when junior quarterback Terry Bussey sprung free for a 58-yard touchdown. The extra point attempt failed.

With 8:03 still left in the first period, Bussey found junior receiver Vosky Howard for a 3-yard touchdown reception. Bussey converted the 2-point try and Timpson led 14-0.

Bussey started the second quarter off by taking a first-down snap 71-yards for his second rushing score to give THS a 20-0 lead. Geo Bryant booted through the point after kick and Timpson led 21-0 with 11:38 left in the second stanza.

With 4:59 Bussey rushed into the endzone from the 6-yard line for his touchdown which helped give THS a 28-0 advantage. He scored his fifth touchdown on a 9-yard keeper run for a score with 1:30 left in the first half. Another Bryant extra point gave the Bears a 35-0 lead at the halftime intermission.

The third quarter saw Bussey score his sixth touchdown on a 41-yard rush to paydirt which helped the Bears take a 42-0 lead with 10:44 left in the third frame. Then later in the period Bussey hit Colton Carroll for a 30-yard touchdown reception which gave the Bears a 49-0 lead with 8:54 left third quarter.

With just 2:01 left in the third quarter LT Washington scored on a 12-yard rush. Bryant added another extra point to give THS a 55-0 lead.

After frequent substitutions in the fourth period, San Augustine was able to find the endzone when Alexander Moore-Haskins scored on a 24-yard scamper to the endzone with 1:30 left in the contest. The Wolves extra point conversion failed and the game ended with Timpson leading 55-6.

The Bears will have an open week for this Friday October 7, 2022. Timpson will host the West Sabine Tigers in two weeks on October 14, 2022 at 7 p.m.

September 29, 2022 - The Shelbyville versus Garrison football game in Shelbyville will be at 7:30 pm on October 7th, instead of 7:00 pm. It is youth night at the game.

Shelbyvville doesn't have a game this week on September 30.

September 28, 2022 - Center Rider Varsity Tennis Team swept Palestine yesterday, September 27th in Palestine 19-0. The team will meet Hudson next week on Tuesday, October 4th to determine 1st and 2nd in the District for Fall Team Tennis.

In upcoming matches, the Junior Varsity team will play at home on Thursday, September 29 against Lufkin at 4pm. The Varsity team will play at home on Saturday, October 1 against Whitehouse and then travel to Hudson on Tuesday, October 4. Finally, Junior Varsity will host Palestine in a matchup at home on Thursday, October 6.

The Roughriders will next travel to Rusk on Friday, September 30, 2022 for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff at Eagles Stadium. Rusk fell by a 31-21 score on the road to the Alvarado Indians in a non-district game last Friday. The Eagles are 3-1 for the season.

The Joaquin Rams started District 11 2A-1 action with a 67-20 home win over the Shelbyville Dragons. The Rams are 3-1 for the season. Joaquin will head to Garrison on Friday September 30 for a 7 p.m. kickoff at Bulldogs Stadium. Garrison is 4-1 and 1-0 in the conference. The Shelbyville Dragons are now 3-2 with a 0-1 District 11 2A-1 mark. They will have a bye for next Friday, September 30.

The Tenaha Tigers fell on the road to the Dekalb Bears by a 65-14 score. The Tigers are now 2-3 this season. They will have a bye for Friday, September 30.

Center Roughriders Stadium on Friday, September 23, 2022 –

The Centers Roughriders varsity football team opened up District 8 4A-2 conference play with a 52-0 win over the Canton Eagles on Friday. The game was the ‘Rider’s 2022 Homecoming football game and it put the CHS season record at 4-1.

Junior quarterback Emonte Cross hit senior receiver Mar Mar Evans on the first play from scrimmage for a 58-yard touchdown and Carlos Hernandez added an extra point kick to give CHS a 7-0 lead with 11:38 remaining in the first quarter. Cross later hit Evans for a 24-yard score with 7:19 left in the first period and Center led 14-0. Cross finished the night with 12 completions on 21 attemps for 200 yards and three touchdowns passing and he had 11 rushes for 2 scores and 172 yards.

Cross broke free for a touchdown run in the first frame for a 44-yard score which helped give the ‘Riders a 21-0 advantage with 2:40 left in the opening frame. A Da’nijhalon  Bo Bo Gipson interception gave Center another possession which led to yet another score in the first period when Kaden Dixon scored on a 64-yard rushing touchdown which gave CHS a 28-0 advantage at the 1:40 mark.

The second quarter saw the Roughriders score on a Cross 75-yard touchdown run and Hernandez later kicked a 21-yard field goal. Center took a 38-0 lead into the lockerroom at the midway intermission. Hernandez was good on seven extra points for the night.

Senior receiver Jake Morris scored on a 16-yard touchdown with 7:38 left in the third stanza and another Hernandez extra point kick gave CHS a 45-0 advantage.

Gipson scored the final touchdown of the game when he intercepted an Eagles pass and returned it for a score with 5:17 remaining in the third quarter.

The Roughriders will travel to Rusk on Friday, September 30, 2022 for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff at Eagles Stadium. Rusk fell on the road to the Alvarado Indians in a non-district game on Friday. The Eagles are 3-1 for the season.
