September 1, 2022 - Center Varsity tennis team wins 13-6 over Lufkin when the two teams met in Lufkin on August 30, 2022. Great start leading 5-2 after doubles and gave the Riders momentum going into singles. Out of 12 singles matches, the team would win 8 with the Lady Riders leading the way completing a clean sweep again.

Varsity Tennis will host Henderson starting at 9am, Saturday, September 3, 2022. Junior Varsity's played in Henderson September 1st and their next tournament will be on September 8th.

Official match score was 13-6, and overall was 19-8 with extra matches played.

August 31, 2022 - JH football will scrimmage Gladewater tomorrow September 1, 2022 in Shelbyville at 5pm.

August 30, 2022 - The JH Football season starts on September 8, 2022 for the Tenaha Tigers at home in a game against Joaquin at 5pm. JV will face San Augustine Wolves in an away game on September 1 at 5pm. To see the full schedule of JH and JV click here.

Week 1 of this year’s regular season saw all five of Shelby County’s teams gain wins to start their seasons.

The Center Roughriders took an exciting multi-overtime win on the road over the Tatum Eagles last Friday by a 44-42 score. Center will host the Spring Hill Panthers at Roughriders Stadium on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. The Panthers beat the visiting Sabine Cardinals by a 44-34 score.

The Joaquin Rams defeated the visiting Arp Tigers by a 48-14 score. They will travel to Beckville’s Bearcats Stadium for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. The Bearcats lost at home to Timpson by a 53-22 score.

The Shelbyville Dragons went to the Alto Yellowjackets Stadium and pulled off a 48-44 win. They will host the Hemphill Hornets on Friday, September 2 at 7 p.m. The Hornets won on the road over the San Augustine Wolves by a 44-0 score.

The Tenaha Tigers played the West Sabine Tigers, at Timpson, and came away with a 50-38 victory. They will host the San Augustine Wolves on Friday, September 2 at 7 p.m. The Wolves fell to Hemphill by a 44-0 score.

The Timpson Bears beat the Beckville Bearcats at Bearcats Stadium by a 53-22 margin. They will host the Jefferson Bulldogs on Friday, September 2 at 7 p.m. Jefferson won at the New Boston Lion’s Stadium 43-0.

Junior quarterback Ja’Tyrion Moore had a big day in Tenaha’s 50-38 over the West Sabine Tigers during their varsity football season opener. Moore rushed for six touchdowns, passed for another score and made two 2-point conversions during the win. The game was played at Timpson High School due to heavy rain.

Moore opened up the scoring just 20 seconds into the game with a 65-yard run from scrimmage. The Tenaha Tiger’s conversion attempt failed and THS led 6-0.

West Sabine bounced back two minutes later when Jakorian Walker scored on a one-yard run which capped a 62-yard scoring drive. The WSHS 2-point conversion was successful and West Sabine led 8-6.

Tenaha took a 12-8 lead when A’vante Fredieu caught a Moore pass for a score with 4:43 left in the opening frame.

West Sabine once again bounced back with a score of their own when Blaine Bourque scored on a 27-yard run and Walker converted a 2-pt scamper. WSHS led 16-12 with 3:18 left in the first period.

Moore gave THS a 20-16 lead with an 18-yard keeper and a 2-pt conversion run with 1:51 still left in the opening stanza.

Each team scored twice more during the second quarter and Tenaha took a narrow 34-32 lead into the lockerroom at the midway intermission.

The third period saw no score. With 8:23 left in the fourth quarter, Moore scored on a 79-yard scamper and Kamarion Ross added a 2-point conversion run to give THS a 42-32 lead. Moore added the final score of the contest with a 38-yard keeper and Jordan Reese added a 2-point conversion with 2:30 remaining in the game. The Tenaha defense tightened. Sophomore defensive back Ja’Torion Moore ended West Sabines offensive hopes with a late-game interception. The Tigers were able to hold on for the remainder of the 50-38 home opening win.

The Timpson Bears varsity football team has started off their 2022 regular football season with a 1-0 record after gaining a 53-22 road win over the Beckville Bearcats.

The Bears got on the scoreboard early when Geovonie Bryant caught a touchdown pass from Terry Bussey which capped a 7-play 56-yard scoring drive. Bryant then added an extra point kick which gave THS a 7-0 lead with 6:44 minutes left in the first quarter.

A bad snap on the Bearcats first drive forced them to have to punt the ball back to the Bears and Timpson took possession on their next drive at the Bears 20 yardline. Six plays later Bussey found Vosky Howard for a 46-yard touchdown reception which gave Timpson a 13-0 advantage with 57 seconds left in the opening period.

With 8:16 left in the first half Bussey hit Amoree Bruton for an 86-yard score that gave the Bears a 20-0 lead. The Bears extended their lead to 26-0 when Dacorian Johnson picked off a Beckville pass and returned it for an 87-yard score with no time left to end the first half.

Bryant caught another touchdown with 8:01 left in the third period to give THS a 32-0 lead. Then LT Washington added a 2-point conversion run to boost the lead to 34-0.

Beckville’s Calan Castles added a 2-yard touchdown keeper run for a score and a 2-point conversion to get BHS on the board. Timpson led 34-8 with 4:04 left in the third stanza.

The Bears answered back when Bussey scored on a 39-yard keeper run for a touchdown. Bryant added an extra point kick and Timpson led 41-8 with 2:15 left in the third quarter.

LT Washington rushed 28 yards for a score with 11:02 left in the fourth period and gave THS a 47-8 advantage.

Bo Hammons scored on a 2-yard run for Beckville with 9:42 left in the game for the Bearcats. They trailed as the Bears led 47-15.

Bussey added another touchdown keeper to his resume and gave THS a 53-15 lead with 8:16 left to play.

Beckville got a touchdown reception from Jaden Mojica with 5:38 which proved to be the final points of the contest as Timpson clinched the 53-22 win.

The Bears will next host the Jefferson Bulldogs at Timpson’s Eakin Field on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 7 p.m.

The momentum would stay on our side with the Lady Riders sweeping their singles 6-0, and the Roughrider boys going 4-2. Official match score 17-2, and overall 24-3 with extra matches played.
