March 10, 2025 - VFW Post 8904 Post members and Auxiliary gathered at the Shelby County Veterans Memorial on February 28, 2025, to honor those who served in Operation Desert Storm 34 years ago.
March 3, 2025 - The Joaquin High School Girls Powerlifting Team competed in the Region 3 Championships 1A/2A against 37 schools at Commerce High School on February 28, 2025. Three Joaquin lifters placed in the Regional Meet. Paloma Salvador placed 7th in her class with a total weight of 660, Squat 250, Bench Press 150, and Dead Lift 260. Emma Barton placed 8th in her class with a total weight of 695, Squat 265, Bench Press 155, and Dead Lift 275.
March 1, 2025 - The 2025 Shelby County Livestock sale is underway at the John D. Windham Civic Center and unofficial results will be updated as the auction progresses. Once official results are in, they will be published.
February 26, 2025 - East Texas Food Bank (ETFB) Mobile Pantry with fresh produce will be in the parking lot of First Baptist Church in Center, 117 Cora Street from 4pm until 5:30pm this Friday, February 28, 2025.
The Mobile Pantry is held the fourth Friday of each month. The drive-through Mobile Pantry is open to anyone needing food and there are no ID requirements.
February 20, 2025 - The Shelby County Museum is hosting an Open House for a New Exhibit on “Clubs and Organizations” on Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 1-4pm.
February 18, 2025 - East Texas Communities Foundation is currently accepting applications from East Texas students for eighty-eight scholarships to be awarded for the 2025-2026 academic year. The deadline for submission of the online application is March 1, 2025. Janaury 17, 2025 (More Photos) - The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the 2024 year during their annual awards banquet held at the John D. Windham Civic Center on Thursday, January 16, 2025. Top honors of the evening went to Lauren Hovey Bonner as Young Citizen of the Year, Roger Doyle received the Distinguished Service Award, and Jerry and Phyllis Griffin and Family were named Farm Family of the Year.
