Hunter Education Courses in the Area (Next Class Sept. 21)

September 4, 2024 - September marks the beginning of fall which is soon followed by hunting season. Texas hunters born on or after September 2, 1971, must complete a Hunter Education course.

  • Minimum age of certification is 9 years of age.
  • Those age 9 through 16 must complete Classroom course or Online (+) Field Course.
  • Those age 17 and above may complete Online-only in lieu of in person course.

Beware of Text Message Survey Appearing to be from City of Center

September 1, 2024 - Shelby County Today received a question from a viewer regarding a text message they received on their phone, “Dynata conducting a short survey on issues important to Center.” 

The City of Center advises the survey isn’t from them.

Use caution when clicking on links from unknown sources because it could be a scam or an attempt to get personal information via phishing.
