February 5, 2024 - The 2024 Primary Election takes place on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 with early voting starting February 20, 2024 and ending March 1, 2024. Once again, in the county races all candidates filed to run on the Republican ticket. This means the results will be decided in the Primary Election and only one candidate's name will be listed on the November 5th General Election ballot.
January 30, 2024 - At 3:23pm on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, Timpson ISD posted on their Facebook page, "Timpson ISD was made aware of a potential situation in the area and went into a complete lockdown in a matter of seconds. The lockdown lasted for less than 10 minutes. At this time there is no threat to any Timpson ISD campus."

January 22, 2024 - Shelby County Commissioner Precinct 1 Roscoe McSwain advises an outside contractor will begin repairs on CR 1030 at Biggar Creek starting tomorrow, January 23rd.
January 15, 2024 - Headlines have been primarily alerts about closures and delays from the freezing weather; however, schools were closed already for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day today, January 15, 2024.
Update 3:45pm: Swepco reports power has been restored to around 3,000 customers at approximately 3:20pm on Friday, January 12 in the Center area. The cause of the outage is suspected to be a lightning strike of a piece of equipment at the SWEPCO Substation on Hwy 7 East causing it to fail and resulting in the outage. January 6, 2023 - Shelby County Today has had reports from natural gas customers in Center stating their gas has been turned back on.
According to Luciana Barr, Emergency Management Coordinator for Shelby County, CenterPoint has repaired the gas leak. They are currently going door to door to turn back on the gas. Someone must be at home as they go door to door to turn on gas. They will be checking for leaks.
