A Luncheon will be served at noon, and the Board meeting will be held immediately following lunch.
October 11, 2023 - Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) Solid Waste grant application deadline for FY 2024 is 4:30 p.m. on October 30, 2023. DETCOG anticipates awarding grants totaling $67,500.
September 18, 2023 - Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) is now taking applications for funding of Solid Waste Projects for FY 2024. DETCOG anticipates awarding grants totaling $67,500.
Each application will be judged by the DETCOG Regional Solid Waste Advisory Committee (RSWAC) in accordance with the RSWAC Project Review and Scoring Guidelines and DETCOG’s Regional Solid Waste Management Plan. Grant awards will be made by the DETCOG Board after it receives the RSWAC recommendations.
June 28, 2023 – Area Agency on Aging of Deep East Texas Council of Government will hold a Medicare/Social Security Seminar Thursday, July 13, 2023 at the Lufkin Convention Center, 601 North 2nd Street in Lufkin, Texas. The seminar is schedule from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm.

March 30, 2023 - The Board of Directors of Deep East Texas Council of Governments has designated April 2023 as Fair Housing Month in Deep East Texas. Its recently adopted resolution recognizes the significance of Fair Housing Month as an important time to acknowledge, better understand, and support Equal Housing Opportunity.
March 30, 2023 - Are you, or someone you know, living with constant pain? An online Workshop on Living with Chronic Pain is being offered at no charge by the Area Agency on Aging. The class will be held via Zoom from 10:00 to 12:30 on Wednesdays from April 5 – May 10. Workshop topics include: Fatigue & Getting a Good Night’s Sleep, Healthy Eating for Pain, and The Mind-Body Connection & Distraction. Participants will receive a free resource book, ‘Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Pain’, a $26 value.

March 1, 2023 – The Deep East Texas Council of Governments has filed the required evidence with the Texas Broadband Development Office to challenge the accuracy of the new State Broadband Map. The challenge asserts that 46 census blocks in the 11-county DETCOG Region have significantly slower internet speeds than reported on the initial Texas Broadband Development Map. The state map will be used in determining how state and federal Broadband Internet Funds will be distributed around the state.
February 27, 2023 – The Deep East Texas Regional Housing Authority (DETRHA) will open its waiting list lottery for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program and begin accepting pre-applications on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 12:00 a.m. CT through Friday, March 31, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. CT. Pre-applications will be accepted online at https://www.waitlistcheck.com/TX2875 and will NOT be accepted at the Housing Authority's office, nor by fax or mail.
