DETCOG Board to Hold First Meeting of 2020 in San Augustine

January 3, 2020 - The Board of Directors of Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) will hold their first meeting of the New Year in San Augustine. The meeting will be held Thursday, January 23, 2020 at the San Augustine County Expo Rodeo Center located at 1109 Oaklawn Street (off State Highway 147 North) in San Augustine. A luncheon will be served at noon with the board meeting to follow.

DETCOG Accepting Pre-Applications for Rental Assistance Waiting List Lottery

January 3, 2020 - The Deep East Texas Regional Housing Authority (DETCOG) will open its waiting list lottery for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program and begin accepting pre-applications on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 8:00 a.m. CT through Friday, January 3, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. CT. Pre-applications will be accepted online at https://www.waitlistcheck.com/TX2875 and will NOT be accepted at the Housing Authority's office, nor by fax or mail.

Application Deadline Nearing for DETCOG Solid Waste Grants

December 30, 2019 - The deadline for receipt of Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) Solid Waste Grant applications is 4:30 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2020. DETCOG anticipates awarding grants totaling $65,000.00 for FY 2020.

Each application will be judged by the DETCOG Regional Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC) in accordance with the SWAC Project Review and Scoring Guidelines. This year there can be up to 5 grants at a maximum of $13,000.00 each.

DETCOG Opens New Regional Headquarters in Lufkin

December 13, 2019 - The Deep East Texas Council of Governments and Economic Development District (DETCOG) offices have relocated to their new regional headquarters in Lufkin, Texas. December 4, 2019 - The Board of Directors of the Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) will hold their annual Christmas Luncheon on Thursday, December 19, 2019. The event will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church located on Hwy 190 west of Jasper. The luncheon will start at noon.

DETCOG Requesting Comments on Changes to Housing Choice Administrative Plan

August 21, 2019 - The Deep East Texas Council of Governments is soliciting public review and comment on the proposed changes to the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program’s Administrative Plan. The proposed Administrative Plan will be available for public comments for a period of 45 days beginning Friday, August 9, 2019 and ending on Wednesday, September 25, 2019.

Medicare and Health Issues Conference Scheduled in Lufkin

June 10, 2019 - “Power in Community”, a conference on Medicare and health issues is scheduled for Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at the Pitser Garrison Convention Center in Lufkin. The program starts at 9 a.m., a lunch will be provided and there is no charge for attending. The event will be hosted by the Area Agency on Aging and the Southeast & Deep East Texas Aging and Disability Resource Center.
